My father in law was experiencing bright red blood in his stool from hemorrhoids. He didn't even know he had them! The doctor diagnosed him. We haven't eaten any beets--the only thing it might be is the homozon, according to your experiences. The main thing is the color. It is not bright red like hemorroids. If your husband has been constipated for years there is a high likelihood that he acquired a fair set of hemorrhoids, and it could be that they are now starting to reduce in size. I've heard of this happening when people change their diets and the hemorrhoids start to shrink. However, it is also possible that he had polyps too, and they may very well have been close to being cancerous but are leaving because of his diet changes that are making his body more alkaline i.e. alive. It could very well behoove you and him for a proctologist to have a look see and let you know just how things are looking there. Bloody stools is one thing, where the blood is coming off the stool, and anal dripping of blood because of a hemorrhoid opening. I know that sometimes when my morning juice drink is made with just a bit too much beet juice it will sure tend to look like there is blood there. So, if by any chance he's eating more of that to help the liver it too can make for the appearance of blood. It's amazing just how much it really does look like there is blood coming off the stool. I guess we will have to go to someone knowledgeable about testing, but who is holistic oriented too. (We definately won't see a "test, cut and burn" kind of doctor). I am still trying to determine if the Homozon could have been a factor--has anyone else had any blood in the stool from using homozon? Would internal hemorrhoids bleed bright red or a darker, wine colored red? (It's wine colored.) He has said he has never had hemorrhoids, but he wouldn't know if they were internal, would he? I don't know if the homozon is laxative but it sounds like it. I know of other cases where herbal laxataves have created rectal bleeding. The rectal bleeding is usally accompanied by lower abdominal pain, maybe back pain. It's important to have it checked out because a history of constipation is a breeding ground for disease. Bleeding is also a sign of cancer. The brighter the blood, bright red, the closer to the anus. The darker the blood, thick and black, the farther up in the tract it has come from. SS >Thanks, Dale. The constipation is mostly gone now and I haven't noticed any blood in a while. But " hard and firm stools " could be constipation which could cause some tears in the rectum if it's bad enough. No panicking here, of course. ==>Debra, if it was " red " blood it means fissures or tiny cracks were made in the large colon or rectum, because blood from higher up wouldn't be red - it would be dark red to black in color. Fissures can be caused by straining or by constipated stools. I'm not sure the nuts could have caused the problem, but they are very hard to digest and can damage the intestines. Also VMA and succinic are high with arabinose low. We started GFCF diet with supplementation with Kirkman's Culturelle and Klaire's Therbiotic, Caplyric acid, TMG with folic acid and B12 and Buffered Calcium with Vitamin C. Today he had a little bit of blood in his stool which he never had before. What might be the reason? Also my four year old one is also having yeast problems. We are treating him with the above supplements and magnesium citrate, but he passes stool with constipation and mostly after the gap of one day. Also sometimes he rolls his eyes and from yesterday water is coming out of his right eye. What should i give to address this issue. Bright red is prbably hemrroids or the like but dark red or black blood/stool would be a good reason to go to the dr. Hemmrroids generally are from pushing too hard or constipated.
