Guest guest
Hi all, I may have posted this before, but really need help, or at least advice. My son is 17. When he was younger, he was prone to self-injurious behavior. For the last few years, his behavior has been reasonably stable. He would have periods of sleeplessness and the foods he would eat were mostly non-existent. He has had allergy problems since he was 5 years old and taking every allergy med there was. The last thing the doctor put him on was Allegra, which he doesn't tolerate well. He is severely autistic and mostly non-communicative. About 3 or 4 years ago he started having such severe digestive issues that he was referred to a GI doc. Endoscopy-inflammation,acid reflux, hiatal hernia-prescribed Prevacid. 2 colonoscopies within 2 years. 1st the ileum valve was locked down and had to be forced open. 2nd-doc said was good, found only spots of inflammation in colon--antispasmodic prescription. Now the problem. Out of the blue, he started having meltdowns, basically at the same time 7-8pm. Not every night but mostly. He will be fine and for no reason start mashing his face into the computer screen or tv screen until his nose is swelling. Then he will start beating himself in the head, saying " My Head " . When it is over, it is over. If anyone interrupts the process, the rage is exhibited toward them. When it is over, he is fine, but totally out of control during the episode. His ocd behavior has escalated during the rest of the time. In trying to determine what is causing this, I have backed off of all supplements. I am considering possible seizures. He spends a lot of time in front of the computer. Any ideas would be appreciated. This is the short version. Thanks, Drissia
