It is perfectly reasonable for a physician not to want to get involved

in a legal battle that is not his. We all only have so much spare time

and goodwill.

From your slanderous comments on your wife (who I do not know), I would

say there is something else going on and it seems perfectly reasonable

for a third party to choose to stay out of this business. This does not

make him a " complete asshole " in my book.

Dr Durand helped your son. Don't ever forget that. If you start

respecting people, they will start respecting you.

Divorce is a bitch. It makes us realize we are powerless to force people

to do certain things. There are good lessons to be learned here about

ourselves.

I feel really badly for your son in this situation because if you would speak

like that to people you don't know about your wife, then I could only imagine

what you say to people with whom you are comfortable.

This is the person that you chose to make a lifelong commitment to, and this is

the woman that you chose to be the mother of your child. Perhaps if you toned

it down a bit people would be interested in helping, in the child's interest, if

there wasn't such animosity.

I would highly recommend that you give a complete, honest try at a program like

www.retrouvaille.org for the sake of your son so that, worst case scenario, you

can communicate.

Dr. Durand has chosen to save her own skin rather than your son's. I am sorry

you are facing this challenge, . I doubt a court will accept a non-treating

MDs opinion any more than they'd accept just the multitude of studies out there

showing the benefits of biomedical intervention.

Get busy and start printing. Contact ARI to see what they have for you. Print

out the recent info about digestive enzymes and Autism. Will teachers attest to

any improvements? Just keep gathering positive people to testify that your

child was/is getting better and then make your case that it is/was due to the

interventions.

I don't know what more you can do aside from finding another MD to come on board

and treat him. I think you need this person to actually *see* your son before

writing any letter.

Hi ,

Maybe you should know a litle more about Dr Durand. He wanted me to give my 100

pound son 700mg of DMSA at one time for a challenge test. He advised people to

give DMSA every eight hours. He didn't advise anyone to use ALA. After I

explained Andy's protocol, I later learned that he accepted what I taught him

and adjusted his protocol. My simple request would have taken his secretary

about three minutes to type.

How typical of you to leap to the conclusion that I'm slandering my wife. If

you had asked to learn more about her, you would have seen that my remarks were

That describes many DAN! doctor protocols.

I just think this doc recognizes the volatile situation and wishes to stay out

of it. Plus, drawing any attention to practices mainstream medicine sees as

irresponsible, untested, unjustified and predatory can put her license in

jeopardy (in her eyes and perhaps for real).

Try to separate the bad protocol from the unwillingness to write you a letter.

I think they are two different things. It is not unusual for people to steer

clear of divorce proceedings!

Oh, and if Dr. Durand knows how you detest her practice, why would she want to

help you?

To others: many one sided biomedical marriages (1 believer, 1 non) can end with

bitterness and anger. I am married to a non-believer and it is tough. Put

other marital problems on top of it and I'm certainly not going to judge

for calling his soon-to-be-ex lazy or stupid. I would go insane if my husband

took the mB12 and ran like a loon to hide it as his sister's house. Sometimes

these groups are the only place you can air your frustrations to their full

extent.

Did you try the Pfiefer Treatment Center or Dr. Bradstreet or Dr. Megson? I

would think they would all be quite comfortable stating that a child needed a

specific diet and protocol, but you would have to get in to see them first.

I agree Pam. , I must say that it absolutely disgusts me that a DAN!

physician will not stand by their treatment course/prescription like a

mainstream physician would. To me, this has nothing to do with the divorce and

everything to do with wishy-washy half-ass Dr. Durand. In fact, I might

consider suing Dr. Durand because (if I understand correctly) he prescribed a

treatment that now he refuses to support. I wonder if the thought of someone

suing him might help him make a good decision?

Of course not. All doctors have insurance to protected them against this

kind of frivolous lawsuit.

Do you really believe that this doc _owes_ you something? It's not a

matter of " standing by one's treatment " . It's a matter of seeing one's

time wasted in court for one person's agenda when it could be better

spent treating patients who don't abuse them on the phone.

I am not a fan at all of suing these doctors unless they do something 'sueable'

(is that a word?); and even then my parameters for suing doctors is probably

very narrow compared to others. Making DAN! doctors out to be quacks and

criminals honestly hurts our efforts to keep alternative medicine available.

A mainstream doc is just as unwilling to get involved in a divorce situation.

This is not DAN! specific at all.

There are always two sides to the story, and then there is the truth. Who wrote

It would seem that justice (the threat of justice, as it is?) would keep those

who would be so just (as us?) from being so just, otherwise? .. . It probably is

helpful to support each other in that respect, how subjugagted and confused we'd

I know mostly losers of the justice system, and not so many lawyers or judges or

bureaucrats and civil-servants and criminals (and abusers perhaps) and such, but

then I'm from Canada, where that might all be different in the USA? At $400 an

hour (and other BS of deals to pay for that) for a lawyer, and judges, etc.,

that also isn't usually covered by our state, I don't see much good in our

justice system, or of a state of as much.. .

But that would be just me on that, where some others might also see it that way

of as much.. .

Can you explain how asking a doctor for a letter stating a couple of facts

equates to a doctor having to waste his time in court? Do you understand that

sending a document to a court is different than actually attending court and

testifying?

, this might sound simplistic and unhelpful, but is there any way you could

chelate Sam on the weekends that you have him? What kind of custody

arrangements do you have? If you see him every other weekend, you could still

chelate him and she wouldn't ever need to know.

I am glad that my husband and I see eye to eye on matters of biomed, I can't

imagine being in your position, how painful it must be. You can get

methylcobalamin online, but it is the injectable form. My son takes it and still

can't speak, but it helps him with his moods, it stabilizes them and helps him

self soothe. less handbiting and the headbanging/slapping completely went away.

If you don't feel comfortable buying the injectable form of B12 you should take

your son to another Dr. Chiropractors are great also, and they have some clout

in a court of law, they are willing to learn if they are presented with

information and the one my son is seeing will prescribe B12 and chelation. Just

know that you have options and don't ever feel defeated because your son needs

you to be strong, it sounds like you are the only reasonable voice he has. I

can't understand how some parents could stand by doing nothing while their child

is trapped inside a body with no

way to communicate. This is sad and breaks my heart.
