Guest guest
First, maybe except for the first week or so, I have had no adverse effects from my LDN. I take it at "bedtime". At present that means at night but unlike many here, I would always take it at "bed time" regardless of the clock. I believe my biological clock is more important than the wall clock. I get mine from Skip's Pharmacy as I don't want to complicate my life. Good-luck, Larry
Guest guest
That is very interesting Larry because i have been taking it at 8:30 or 9:00 because some nights i fall off to sleep early and i thought it had to be at the same time every night, and since i have only been on it for 2 weeks, i was wondering how i would do it if we go out and i am up late. I like the idea of just taking it before bed..what ever time that is. How do the people that have been on it for awhile feel about doing it this way? thanks, Terri From: Larry Stahl <larry@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re:Curious about dosing timelow dose naltrexone Date: Monday, September 7, 2009, 9:56 PM First, maybe except for the first week or so, I have had no adverse effects from my LDN. Guest guest
My husband takes his at all different times, always at night, before he goes to bed. It ranges from the earliest, 9p.m to the latest he can stay awake (only if we have been out!) maybe midnight. He hasnt noticed any difference at all in how he feels or how his MS is, in relation to what time he takes his. After nearly 5 years he`s pretty much used to feeling stable now anyway and if he does feel sick for any reason, he never thinks it`s due to his MS. Guest guest
What is the best dosage of LDN to begin treatment with? For an adult who is not significantly below the normal weight range, the optimal dose of LDN is 4.5mg, taken each night at bedtime; i.e., between 9pm and 3am. One can begin at this dose level. If one were to develop persistent sleep disturbance (i.e., a sleep disturbance lasting longer than 10 to 14 days) after starting LDN, which occurs in less than 2% of users, then the dose may be decreased to 3mg or 2mg. People who have multiple sclerosis that has led to muscle spasms are advised to begin treatment with just 3mg daily and to maintain that dosage. http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/further_q_and_a.htm > > That is very interesting Larry because i have been taking it at 8:30 or 9:00 because some nights i fall off to sleep early and i thought it had to be at the same time every night, and since i have only been on it for 2 weeks, i was wondering how i would do it if we go out and i am up late. Guest guest
at skips we all advise you start at 1.5 and work your way up - i was just reviewing Dr Gilhoolys video from the last conference he does the same thing- starts people off low if you get 1.5's you can play around with it titrate up or down and until you find what works. another thought about the spasms that people complain about also came up multiple times in different interviews i did and Dr Crowley way way back said he thought it wasn't a bad thing that it was like muscles waking up. i'm almost done with the second teaser that includes the la conference. it came out great i'll post a link when i'm done. cyndiOn Sep 7, 2009, at 10:41 PM, art_ldn wrote:What is the best dosage of LDN to begin treatment with? Guest guest
This is really interesting to me since even at 2 mg I am feeling more side effects than I had expected this second time around trying to adjust to LDN. Might be a good idea for some of us to go slow, as Dr Skip advises, staying at one dose for a whole month before increasing. It's hard to do that when we are focusing on 4.5 as a goal. Maybe our goal should be no side effects before increasing the dose rather than a specific dose of 4.5. Decreasing a bit when we do get to a point that the side effects don't resolve in two weeks. Discussing LDN in so many different disorders, some of us using it for more than one condition or with other treatments makes it difficult to generalize about doses and results.
