Dear :

It's so sad that there are no descent therapists and psychiatrists in your

area of Nebraska. I attended the Governor's symposium this Spring on Early

Childhood Mental Health and how we can improve mental health facilities

throughout the state. Supposedly, we have $20 million of tobacco money to

use for re-vamping the system, but from what I've been reading in the

newspaper about State funds I wonder if we'll lose the money. We discussed

incentive programs for therapists and psychiatrist to outer portions of the

state. I know of some families that drive into Omaha a couple times a month

in order to receive good services.

I was fortunate to find a good psychiatrist and therapist the first time

around. Both are with University Psychiatry (402-354-6800); Dr.

Harrington is his p-doc and Robin Zagurski- is his therapist. They are

both up to speed with OCD and the comorbities that can go with it. Robin

does CBT with ER & P. has come a long way with her, even though it has

been slow going. I know they work with people who have to come long

distance for treatment. I believe they talk via phone in-between sessions

to keep the therapy and meds on track. It might be worth a call and get a

feel for what they might be able to do for you. I did meet some people from

Grand Island and Kearney at the symposium, but I'm sorry I don't remember

their names (I should've written them down) and I know they were very well

versed in treatment for bi-polar and other mental disorders, so there must

be someone out there who is knowledgeable. Ahhhh, I just tracked down my

participant list from the Governor's Symposium and here are some of the

people from Kearney:

Carroll, Project Coordinator Nebraska Family Council (321-4981 ext

271);

Beth Holthusen, Project Director, Nebraska Family Central (237-5113 ext

222);

Angie Marquaredt, Professional Partner, Region 3 Behavioral Services, 4009

6th Ave., Ste 65 (237-5113 ext. 254);

Ramage, SCRIP Co-Coordinator & UNK Professor, Univ. of Neb.- Kearney,

1701 W. 35th St., C113 (865-8359)

Amy , Central Service Area Administrator, NDHHSS (865-5578)

Kara Sandman, Nebraska Family Central (237-6618) (Mental Health Wrap Around

Services)

I hope someone on this list will be able to help you. Maybe you have

already spoken to some of them.

Good luck and welcome to the list -- it's been my lifesaver!!!!!

Don't take it on yourself that you don't feel well because your husband is away.>We take on too much responsibility already for how we feel

Ask the Trial Dr if a filler has been substituted or there's a dose difference or even a change in what you are being given
