Guest guest
common cold I was wondering how many on this list have never had a cold since getting CFS ? I had one but that was when I was on long term antibiotics. I just finally got one this weekend, 2 years after the one I had while on ab's but almost 5 years since getting CFS. The one thing I did do is bring my electrolyte levels back up to normal. I use the pH strips you can get at the health food store. I bought some goat whey, before I started my pH was always 5.5 , now it is more like 6.6. I suppose these normal electroylyte levels could be contributing to a better functioning immune system - I hope so.
Guest guest
hi susan, nope i havent had a cold since i became ill and was told if i got a cold it was a sign my immune system was functioning properly. somish Hmmm I've heard this before and I don't believe it. In the last three years I have got colds all the time (once a fortnight in the winter quite often) and yet I am iller than ever. My immune system is most definately not functioning better as I get more bacterial infections than ever too which take longer to clear up aswell
Guest guest
It's common for someone with CFS to say: I haven't been sick since I have been sick. Guest guest
I always figured that i didn't get colds because the DD kept me home alone so much; not much exposed to colds. I am not an especially careful person, but I do duck if I see a walking cold coming. And try to remember to wash my hands enough. I used to get the flu at the earlier stages. I mean real flu, acute, not just worse symptoms. Now if I start to feel a flu after me, I stop EVERYTHING and treat it early. Guest guest
I had my first cold in years this past June, about 4 months after starting abx for Lyme. I had forgotten how miserable they are! Donna in NC
Guest guest
Hi . That's great that you found help for this problem. It is really frustrating and depressing. How much hydrocortisone do you take regularly and how much do you increase it when you catch a cold? Tom
Guest guest
Hi Tom I take about 10 mg a day first thing in the morning but when I have a cold I take another 7.5mg at lunchtime. You can take up to 25mg a day before you exceed physiologic levels. Re: common cold Hi . That's great that you found help for this problem. It is really frustrating and depressing. Guest guest
I dont know if it would help to get rid of one if you have one but I do know that my husband hasnt had a common (or uncommon!) cold for years since being on LDN. I`ve had all sorts of stuff - nose, throat, coughing.....he didnt get any of it! -- In low dose naltrexone , " Glenn Kemp " <gekemp@...> wrote: > > Does LDN help? > > GEK >
