Guest guest
To all interested partys, The Children of Dr " Living with Lyme disease " is a One Hour program with interviews of parents, children and of course Dr . It discusses from the familys point of view the struggle and frustrations that families deal with when seeking help from physicians, educators and insurance companies. The video communicates that impact of this disease on the children and families is all consuming, it is our children who become the victims of the medical and insurance communities yet they ( the families) remain hopeful that someone, somewhere will see the light and devote resources to curing this illness instead of trying to cover it up. Dan Peck The Video can be purchased for $30.00 Send check to: VBD Video Productions 120 Boswell Street, Stratford Ct 06615
Guest guest
Thanks Dan, I will be ordering one, and then when I see it, I will forward to Rosie O'Donnell, (has anyone on our list already done this??) If someone already did this, I will donate the video to my local support group. I appreciate the information that you provided, wondering if you have LD too? Guest guest
Hi Marta, I got involved with the Dr video when doing an interview with him on a job I had with Dolly Curtis, who I have helped do a number of Lyme related videos covering various doctors in Ct and Westchester..Dr's ,Raxlen,Danta, Leigner, Kirby Stafford, who all did public speaking appearances for community awareness. I had thought that Dr. was going to be another doctor with the same information and views I had heard at previous lectures. I had already felt an affinity with people who have an illness and are struggling against the establishment knowing they are right and getting no-where, as I have experienced that in my own life, that is why I volounteered to shoot and edit the video's with Ms Curtis. However this interview with Dr was quite different. He had brought in several of his patients and their parents who I had a chance to meet and speak with. Up till this point I was the guy in the back of the room with the camera, documenting a seminar, presented by a doctor, attended by adults who pretty much came and left the meeting. This time I heard personal stories, frustrations, fears from the children and thier parents and what really suprised me was their optimism. I felt that the documentation of a doctors seminar although informative to people with or dealing with Lyme disease was fine. I felt like the people attending these seminars got it already, they understood what was happening to them physically, and what barriers there were in the medical , educational, and insurance community . I felt if people affected with Lyme were gonna be heard they needed to make the public see what they were experiencing, what really was needed was a story people whithout Lyme could watch, understand and hopefully a support beyond afflicted people would be begun. So thats what I attempted to do in the video I made with Dr.. Unfortunately I had no drug company sponsorship, I did it for free.. Public Television didnt want the show because they already produced one financed by Pharmaceuticles that basically said..Oh I got bit, took some meds now Im better..I was livid when I saw that..they should be ashamed, and the fact that they would not air a show with an opposing view shows that they too can be bought. I have aired this program locally in Ct but anyone who can get this video on the air is certainly welcome to do so, I can make 3/4 - Beatcam - or SVHS copies for air It was always my intention to get this info out, Ive sent it to Montel, to Rosie, to Leesa and Oprah ..I told them it wasnt about my video..it was about the topic, cover this topic, talk to these people..all with no response. I am running it now again in Ct on Public access and am trying to arrange a show segment on the Fairfield Exchange, a local FFld County televsion talk show. Sooo. thats the story of the video, I hope it can help others who are afflicted but mostly I hope it can educated the ones who arn't and are in the position to help.
