Guest guest
Thanks , and Gretchen for your great shoe suggestions! I ended up going to Shoebuys.com (a site I found when doing a search for some of the brands mentioned). Shoebuys.com had 203 different shoe models under the " casual woman " heading. I went through just about every model and about fifteen of them had a " removeable footbed " feature suggesting that they can accomadate orthotics. Brands that did so included Rockport, Sebego and some others that are smaller and I can't recall the names. I really liked the Hush Puppies but none of them mentioned a removeable insole. Shoebuys.com offered free shipping and their prices were also quite reasonable. I purchased several pair. I also found two pair of " Keds like " (looked like Keds but not) sneakers at LLBean online; they had removeable insoles and were reasonably priced. I may have been a bit foolish going on this shoe shopping spree as I don't exactly have the funds for it right now (used credit cards). But I have not been wearing my orthotics , or wearing them minimally, for several months now on the grounds that I can't afford the proper shoes. I decided that it is probably more important that I can't afford for my CMT/deformities to worsen because I'm not wearing proper footwear. I'm not sure how any of these shoes will actually work out because none have arrived yet. I would be interested in seeing what the SAS shoes look like and may call them for a catalog. Has anyone ever seen them online?? I LOVED the Mephisto shoes but at $260.00 a pair there was NO WAY. I was able to get about four pair of shoes that should accomadate my orthotics for close to that price. I imagine that the Mephistos are probably better but I'll have to wait on that until I win the lottery or marry rich - Lol - : ) I do like the New Balance shoes too but I was really looking for something less athletic looking. I really don't have to have the most in-style, attractive shoes (if I did, with this CMT I'd be bumming), but I just wanted something that would be a bit less obvious / screaming out to the public, when worn with the long skirts, peasant type dresses, or khaki's that I tend to wear to work. Thanks again for all of your advice. After they arrive, I'll let you know how these shoes actually work out. Marti
Guest guest
Marti I have the SAS shoes because I wanted something that looked a little less like a sneaker. They are great. I got the extra depth ones at Richey Shoes. Before I got the regular SAS's at Nordstrom but with a hinged brace on my right foot the extra depth is the way to go for me personally.
