Guest guest
Dear Lamar, How right you are about nursing not just being " baths and pills " , but sadly that was one of the bits that I liked best :-(( I really have tried not to miss it. I even went to University for 11 years part time to obtain tertiary qualifications to enable me to teach nursing. I reasoned that this was one way to conserve energy when I realised that I was not coping as well in the clinical setting. I think even then I knew I was not well, but it was all so vague. Anyway, I had just finished my Masters degree when I became too sick to work for 18 months. Managed part time for 3 years until even that was too much and I had to retire. The reason I mention this is that I did my major in Aboriginal studies and, you mentioned being interested in Anthropology. Me too! The people I met were so kind to me and once they knew that I was " fair dinkum " , (and had been OK'd by their elders,) they could not help me enough in my wish to document their responses to health care. I had a really wonderful rapport with several groups. If you want to discuss this more, please contact me privately. I am so glad that you like Australia, it really is a beautiful and fascinating country. You must be sure to visit my area of Australia if you ever make it over here. We live in the heart of the gold mining area and there is so much history here, though much colder at the moment than the area Gretchen loves. Thank you for your words of wisdom. Maybe I can help others in some of the ways you mentioned. Thanks also for the web sites which you attached to your last email. I had not visited the Australian CMT site. I will contact them very soon. Best wishes Selina
