Hi,

This is a question for the Michigan contingency. About 5 years ago I

suddenly had high blood pressure (200/100), edema, tachycardia, and

inexplicable weight gain. My sleep med was changed to deseryl as it also

lowered my BP and I was given diuretics. Last year I suddenly had clogged

lungs, PVC's (abnormal heart beat), skipped beats, dizziness and was house

bound with these problems. My PCP said I was fine even tho my daughter

spoke up in my behalf. PCP has me records of recordings of high BP, but

doesn't believe it unless she sees it. Times I am very tired or more sick

than usual, the bp goes down so she has only seen it once.

I had abnormal stress and echo suggesting beginnings of congestive heart

failure and pulmonany edema. PDP admits changes in heart are due to high

BP(while still maintaining my BP is normal!), but neither Pulm nor pcp will

refer me to a Cardio!

In addition, I have had other cardio-vascular issues as 2 retinal infarcts,

and pulm problems as asthma and now fluid.

Pulm was one who suggested I had problems with heart and possible

mitochrondrical disorder, but now after talking with PCP I am now

" essentially normal. " I'm not and I know it! Bottom line is I am an adult,

know my body and feel I should be in charge of my health care. It seems

that if I want to consult a doc I should be able to on my own, but can't get

into group I want without a referral. My LLMD is very concerned about these

issues and wants me to follow up with Cardio. I am trying to do that

locally, but I may have to travel!

So I would like to know if anyone in MI (I'm in Flint area and know I might

have to travel) knows of a cardiologist who is good with people with

chronic disease and lyme. I feel very let down by local doc and THIS is

more frightening than the illness.

In the meantime, I know I need another primary care doc. Heck, this one (who

has good rep!) looks at abnormal tests and declares them normal, discounts

objective signs as raspy voice and walking with a weave, and says my

infections are " emotionally induced. " Here in Flint area docs tend to know

each other and know they talk about patients so this is touchy - I

interviewed potential doc and she called my PCP telling her I had seen her

-so much for confidentially.

This doc shopping is so old, illness has taken over my life, and I just

need a doc to help pull the various problems together with me, and have a

bit of caring for their patients. I don't think this is unreasonable. Have

others had such problems with primary docs?

Thanks for listening and for any feedback,

Christie

If all these variations are documented, the first thing I would advise is finding a good attorney. I'm not an attorney, but what you have here is call "fraudulent assessment of condition." If your PCP is a member of an HMO, he or she will probably think they are protected, but your attorney will know for sure. I'm also fairly sure that MI is one of the states where there is a mandated MINIMUM of care for LD patients. Get legal help right now.
