D,

I take my virtual hat off to you!

I'm glad you had the courage to try it.

I used to love running. Ran from 1980 til around 2003. Then although

I had the mental stuff to get out there, and I *so* had the desire

to feel the good effects (which were always good for me - getting

all that oxygen helped me breathe, improved my mood, gave me energy,

raised my confidence, even improved my eye sight.)

But around this time, I started to run out of steam physically,

which had never happened to me. I put it down to age (I was in

my '50's - not exactly one foot in the grave), or perhaps not

being 'mentally strong enough'.

Now I suspect the Lyme was holding me back. Now with my leg I'm not

thinking of jogging, I'm thrilled when I can take a long walk and

not be conscious of my leg. But I sure would love to get back to it.

You go D!

Walking too

always helped. I stopped running because I was in too much pain -

low back and SI joints, nerve pain down to my knees and feet, awful

pain in my feet and hands, and let's face it - no desire whatsoever

to keep trying.

>

to start because my LLMD is concerned it will be too much for me,

and kinda using that as an excuse. It is too much for many people

who are worse off than I am, and it may be too much for me. But I

won't know if I don't try.

insane and lasted less than 1/10 of a mile. Then I backed off to

6.5 mph and slowly raised it until I hit a mile at 8.0 mph. My

chest hurt and I was gasping for breath, but I just kept

saying, " Die, Bugs, Die!!! " (in my head, 'cause I couldn't talk).

sweating and panting, and my temp was 97. What's that gonna kill?

>

temp up to 101.5. That made me anxious and started the gasping for

air thing again. So I turned on the cold water and let it run over

my head. I was a little dizzy, so I rolled out onto the floor and

stayed there 'til the room stopped spinning. Then I crashed on the

couch for a little while until my heart stopped pounding.

my energy coming back up. I'm going to keep this up. I think it

will help.

> In the past, before I knew I had Lyme, I ran every day. If I

missed a day, I immediately got a sore throat and swollen glands.

At the time I decided that I must need to raise my temperature every

day to avoid " catching things. " Now I figure I was probably keeping

the Lyme under control with the daily temperature increase. It's

time to get back to that. I can't expect the pills to do everything.

> For those who are in too much pain to exercise, is there any way

you can get to a heated pool? There is one at the Wellness Center

where I work, and the elderly folks with severe arthritis do really

well in it. I am looking into getting one of those soft hot tubs.

It isn't exactly cheap, but if it helps me to get healthy, it may

save money in the long run. Maybe I can exercise in it. :)

> We all know this is a terribly tough disease, and we need to do as

much as we can on all fronts if we are going to get well - diet,

exercise, supplements, herbs, abx, medical professionals, good

thoughts, spirituality, and the support of an understanding

community like the one we have here.

>

> So, thank you all for being here. :) You have given me new hope,

new strength, and new courage to fight. Let's beat this rotton

little bug together. :)
