Guest guest
hi all, On p. 170 of the book, referring to stephania for eye problems, Buhner says, " Stephania root, 1/2 teaspoon of the tincture, 3x daily, eye wash with decoction. " Anyone know what that means? thanks, ellen I'm finally getting around to treat my eye. I'm also getting vincamine, which is also good for mental clarity, so that will be a boon. Also I like the vinca flower, in fact, I've got some growing from seed. {Altho I believe the kind that vincamine comes from is the ground cover, a different plant.} I've also got loads of Japanese knotweed in my garden, a very invasive plant. However, I bless it for its attributes, as I pull it.
Guest guest
Ellen: I am not sure HOW you make it exactly, but I believe you make it like a tea. Do not use the tincture in your eyes as the alcohol will certainly burn your eyes. I am taking the Stephania Root as tincture these days. About a half a dropperful, twice a day, sometimes a full dropper full, twice a day. I used to take it in capsule form only. But trying it in tincture form for awhile. I personally find that the herb that works the BEST for ME for my eyes, is the Devil's Claw. Bar None. I notice the improvement almost instantly when I take it, IF I haven't had any for awhile. We need plenty of sleep also, and to stay away from these computers as much as we can, IF we want our vision to stay good throughout the day. Guest guest
Jim, Thanks for your reply. I have read many of your messages re Devil's Claw and seeing what you say below re vision - I am definitely going to get it. Re deconction- I did some web research and I'm sure I mis-read Buhner's instruction, or his description is unclear, because for sure tincture and decoction are 2 separate things. [that was not clear from his writing.] Do you put the tincture in water/juice, or just take it straight? I'm thinking maybe I'll do stephania both internally and externally. ellen > hi all, > On p. 170 of the book, referring to stephania for eye problems, Buhner > says, " Stephania root, 1/2 teaspoon of the tincture, 3x daily, eye wash > with decoction. Guest guest
Hi Ellen: Yes, Buhner's instructions on that one are NOT very clear. I had questions on that also. But you wouldn't want to put alcohol in your eyes. That would have to burn something fierce. What I do with my tinctures is make up a drink of half a glass of water and C-Salts from nutri.com, and then add the tinctures of Red Root, Periwinkle and Stephania Root, then I add in about a half a glass of 100% juice. I use that to take all my herbal capsules with. I do this right after my main course and before my dessert, usually. Hope that helps.
