Guest guest
Ehrlichiosis can affect multiple organs including the gastrointestinal tract and liver. If not treated in a timely fasion, ehrlichiosis can progress to multiorgan failure. This info came from an Arkansas study which says that E. should be considered as a cause of elevated liver transaminases. Don't have the citation handy, but will try to post it later. This article was published in a fairly recent journal issue. Also, a CDC study says that many, if not most, cases of human monocytic ehrlichiosis (HME) in patients who present early in the course of the disease may be missed, underscoring the limitations of serologically based surveillance systems. There are two kinds of ehrlichiosis: HME and HGE. In some places in the country there are both kinds. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
