Guest guest
Buhner answered me once about that, in Bebruary 2006. So he may have some new information about artemisinin and more feedback from his protocol followers now as it's already a year ago. I hope he doesn't mind that I publish his private answer here. At least, it could save him some work of repeating the same answers... February 2006: Selma: " At last, I would like to ask you if you couldn't provide dosages for small children. I have a daughter who turned 2 and we live in the countryside, in a 'red-dangerous' area for tick infections. " Buhner: " ADULT IS FIGURED AT APPROX 150 POUNDS SO DIVIDE CHILD'S WEIGHT INTO THAT. IF 50 POUNDS, THEN 1/3 ADULT DOSE WOULD BE USED. AGAIN I WOULD START WITH SMALLEST DOSE AND WORK UP, SO, ONE TABLET PER DAY FOR A 50 POUND CHILD. I WOULD BE CAUTIOUS WITH ANY CHILD ON ANY HERBAL PROTOCOL AND MONITOR THEM CAREFULLY FOR SIDE EFFECTS. " Selma: " Could a 2 year old take all these herbs in case she gets a tick bite: Astragalus, andrographis (suppositories, I suppose), cats claw, Polygonum cusp.? Is there a weight adaptable dosage for these? " Buhner: " YES, ESP THE ASTRAGALUS - IT IS A FOOD HERB AND CAN BE TAKEN IN LARGE DOSES BY ANYONE. YOU COULD TRY ANDROGRAPHIS POWDERED IN HONEY AND SEE IF THAT WORKS, THEY DO IT THAT WAY IN INDIA. " Note: Buhner DOESN'T recommend any herb in suppositories (he answered that clearly in another mail). All of his herbs are to be ingested. My daughter ended up accepting andrographis in honey, but not too crushed. Selma: " I suppose Sarsaparilla would be no problem, but how much? " Buhner: " WEIGHT ADJUST FOR CHILD " Selma: " And artemisinin, can a child handle this strong herb? " Buhner: " THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION. I WOULD ASSUME AS THEY ARE TREATED FOR MALARIA WITH IT, I WOULD WEIGHT ADJUST AND MONITOR CAREFULLY. " Selma: " Would astragalus help on preventing tick born encephalitis in children/ adults? " Buhner: " PERHAPS, WOULD BE WORTH USING IN MY OPINION. "
Guest guest
I'm posting this as an answer to my own question from yesterday, about doses for children, in case anyone else is looking for that info right now. I found it in the archives. Thank you, Selma, for posting it! > > Buhner answered me once about that, in Bebruary 2006.
