Guest guest
Terry, I take Xanax (2) and a pain pill every night to help me sleep. If I forget one or the other I wake up at least 8 or 9 times, instead of 4 or 5. Tery (the other one, in FL)
Guest guest
Terry, I was taking Elavil for a sleeping disorder even though i do not have RA. At first it worked really well then i started getting headaches from it. I would wake up every morning with a headache and since i have migraines it would turn into a migraine. I stopped taking it still have trouble sleeping but i rather deal with that then have a migraine. There are some other meds to help with sleeping disorders that don't have the side affects that Elavil does and i am going to ask my dr. about them when i go next visit. I hope the Elavil works better for you then for me. Good luck. shelly
Guest guest
I have had trouble sleeping for some time. My doctor put me on trasadone. It helps, but I hate taking it all the time. Guest guest
Ohio Terry, I have a horrible time sleeping. I don't know if it's from pain or not though. I just keep waking up. Might be from the meds. It's not uncommon to put people on low dose antidepressants to help them sleep. And sleep is important to feel better. Guest guest
Glad you brought that up about the antidepressants. RA is a disease that messes with your mind and causes depression, not to mention the mood swings of Prednisone. I am on Paxil now. Started that in March. Before that I had been on Zoloft since spring 96. The Zoloft worked, but once I switched to Paxil and it kicked in. WOW! I am actually happy now and motivated! Terry, maybe you should ask your doc about that? Rainy Sue in Washington State 18 years RA << Ohio Terry, I have a horrible time sleeping. I don't know if it's from pain or not though. Guest guest
Dear TPerrella: Hi, I have a terrible time trying to go to sleep. I have R/A and a few other things as well. Mostly I can't sleep because I am in so much pain from some of the other problems I have. I have sciatica and spinal stenosis. Both are very painful. I also have fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, gout, and asthma. They all give me trouble at night. My Doctor ordered elavil 10 mg for me too. It helps a little. Good Luck. Anjillah@... PS I put a thick poly fiber fill pad on my bed and it helps to relieve the pain I have when sleeping at night.
Guest guest
Hi Terry, I've had some problems sleeping before. My first rheumatologist wasn't quite sure what to do with me when she first diagnosed me, so I wasn't on much medication and it didn't help, so I was in too much pain to sleep. She did prescribe something to help me, I don't remember the name unfortunately, only that it was a small dark red tablet and that I think she said it was some kind of muscle relaxant. It helped a bit...but once I went onto my major load of meds, I slept much better. Guest guest
I am one of those who reads but rarely writes, however,I think I remember a lady mentioning that in an evaluation at Mayo Clinic she was told that CMTers may suffer from chronic anemia. Does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone ever heard this before? Thanks alot. Mimi Vineburg
Guest guest
Doug, I haven't had that sort of symptom at all. Maybe there's a combination of your meds that is resulting in the break outs, or maybe they are causing a deficiency or excess of some kind of mineral or vitamin....It's so hard to tell when we take so many meds and are allergic to so many things! Guest guest
hi doug i'm sorry you're having such skin problems. is it possible you've developed contact dermititus (eczema)? i have eczema, and while it improved with the xolair, i still have flares and some constant itching. i know my skin gets very dry and will end up with similar bumps as you described. maybe you should see a dermotologist? have you tried putting creme (such as eucerin or aveeno) on your skin to see if it helps? hope it goes away. i imagine its very irritating! heather " Rev. Guest guest
Hello Doug, My son went on Xolair around the same time that you did. He just mentioned this week that he had scabs coming up on his skin. I will ask him more questions about it and get back with you. Otherwise, he still has not had any problems with his asthma, anaphylaxis, or urticaria. We still have to call in each week to the diabetes team to adjust his insulin to control blood sugar level. I am on 15 mg of Actos, diet and exercise and my blood sugar is perfectly under control I was having skin problems long before my diabetes diagnosis. I don't think the diabetes is my problem, but you never know. I think that my spots are caused by a combination of prescriptions I am taking. I will ask the Dermatologist if there is anything he can do. Thanks for the reply Doug
Guest guest
My son says that his comes up as a little scab and he scratches them off. He also is on other medications. You know how the bugs are in Arkansas! Hopefully, they are just bites. " Rev. Doug Beasley " <uca79ii@...> wrote: > > Hello Doug, > > My son went on Xolair around the same time that you did. Guest guest
Doug It's not excema is it? I had an outbreak of that when I was younger and it sounds like what you described. You haven't developed allergies to something all of a sudden maybe? Changed laundry soap or body soap, shampoo, etc. Or it could even be a food allergy. Does it itch? The Xolair hasn't caused any reaction on my skin. Hope you find out what it is. - -- In , " pyle456 " <coachmac@w...> wrote: > > > Doug, I haven't had that sort of symptom at all.
