Guest guest
Hi, PCR, Polymerase Chain Reaction (I think)is a test where they supposedly can detect Bb's DNA in blood or other fluids. It is supposed to be highly effective, yet with a disease like Lyme it is not often the bacteria is found in the blood, so can be useless for us, in my humble opinion. Guest guest
PCR stands for Polymerase Chain reaction. It test for DNA to the bacteria. PCR's of the blood do not give great yeilds but great positive yields can come from PCR of the Urine. There is a newer test which is a plasmid PCR where you only need a small portion of the protien from the bacteria to yield a positive. Again, I would suggest urine over blood as this appears to show a better capture as the organism is usually not in our blood unless it is in it's reproduction cycle. Hope this helps.
