1st Awareness Month for CMT!!!!

Dear friends,

I would like to announce that this coming July 2001, .org is proud

to sponsor the 1st ever Awareness Month for CMT! This awareness

month coincides with the U.S. National Month of the Disabled, designated

every July.

This is .org Awareness first attempt! So, it will be simple!

For those of you that wish, please ask for brilliant, rich .org

awareness ribbon to wear. Or get several for your family, friends,

doctors, physical therapists, etc. Gently and simply explain how CMT

affects you and how the email discussion group gives you and

countless others throughout the world daily support. You may direct them

to our site at http://www./groups/) for some

basic information.

For more information, anyone may visit http://www..org our site is

about 4 months old and still under some construction. By the end of

July, our new logo will be splashed up on the site, plus many more

exciting updates about donors, contacts and other great happenings. Our

logo was designed by Vista Creative Solutions in the UK.

May I add that ALL of the work at AND .org

done thus far has been accomplished totally free of charge and ALL was

done by either people with CMT or their family members. And may I take a

commercial break now to personally say THANKS to all of our volunteers

who have helped us get where we are TODAY! YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

These ribbons are handmade by CMT persons who have graciously offered

their time, talent and cost of materials for this CMT Awareness

Month. They are simple, yet elegant in design.

Here's a few other ideas you may wish to help us with. Please understand

no one in this group is under any obligation whatsoever to participate

in this Awareness Launch, but we hope you will!

Ideas:

1) Wear a ribbon everyday during July.

2) Give a ribbon/s to your Dr./Drs., physical therapists, etc.

3) Get ribbons and /.org info. to your local news, and TV

stations.

If you would like an official AWARENESS LAUNCH Press Release for

your news media, tv, or radio stations, contact Gretchen at

liliwigg@... OR if you would prefer we contact your news media

papers and stations, just let us know. All we need from you is EMAIL

CONTACTS for your local media. Please let us know if we can mention your

name as a community member with CMT. We realize some people may prefer

US doing the news contact work and respecting your privacy. But do let

us know.

4) Ask your local Internet Provider to put the AWARENESS Month for

CMT on their sites during July and simply explain WHY this is so

important.

5) Give ribbons to club leaders in your community such as Rotary, Lions,

etc.

6) Give yourself a boost of self-esteem by talking to civic groups for 5

minutes on what and CMT is about. (remember keeping is simple is

key)

7) For any schools still in session or teaching staff, offer

ribbons and a short presentation about for CMT Awareness. Talk to

library groups, kid groups, etc.

8) Give out ribbons at your family reunions.

There are plenty more ideas, I'm sure. We've GOT to start, so here we

go!

Remember, we are NOT asking ANYONE for MONEY!!!!! (Not even YOU - ever!)

Our 1st Awareness Month this year is a fledgling attempt to increase

public CMT awareness and also create a greater interest in .org and

@...

Let us know what kind of great feedback you receive from your efforts!

Remember, .org is the FIRST and ONLY organization in the world,

strictly developed to promote greater CMT public awareness among the

news media and to engage in private fundraising through previously

untapped corporate sectors, the entertainment industry and the dot com

world. Funds raised from future Awareness efforts in the future will

benefit member specified research and other neat projects.

Our colors are purple and gold, as you will see when our logo brightens

your screen! We are soon expecting official stationery,envelopes,

cards to match and we are currently developing a simple, elegant, highly

presentable brochure detailing ALL we do at both .org and

regarding Charcot Marie Tooth.

Not everything could be ready all at once for this July due to several

backlogged jobs, the most important being Gretchen stuck in the hospital

without a computer and her cell phone for 11 days!
