Marie,

Thanks for the info, may I pass your post on to

our Press release person Rita?

Hi, All,

beth, great going with all that you're doing about this lecture! How

about alerting someone at the Washington Post? It is THE paper in

Bethesda. The website is www.washingtonpost.com. I think contacting the

network affiliates is a wonderful idea. I am from Bethesda (when I'm not

at school in Massachusetts) and I think channels 4, 5, 7, and 9 would be

excellent choices.

Incidentally, the local columnists I remember are: Bob Levey, who runs a

" Bob Levey's Washington " column -- perfect for this story!- and also a

(?) Cohen. I'd make a start with Bob Levey. He does a Children's

Hospital fund raising story each year and may well be interested in local

health issues. If he doesn't respond, try Cohen.

Also, Naval Medical (where the president gets treated) is right across

the street from NIH. I believe there is some publication there called the

Armed Forces Medical School Bulletin, or Commissioned Officers Corps

Newsletter, something like that. Maybe someone local could call a Press or

Public Relations office at the Naval Hospital to see if they want to have

someone on hand to cover the story.

But I think it's especially great to contact local TV stations!

Good luck - Marie

Marie ,

I have been thinking of calling the Washington Post. I get it everyday, and

there is so little in it about health in general. Occasionally, like one a

month there is a Health Section. I remember it used to have one more often.

I agree, Levy of Cohen are good choices. If I find some energy this week

I'll start working on at least a letter to see if they are interested in

doing a story. Thanks for reminding me.
