Hi Ellen and all, I take ALA AND NAC also Designs for health Whey Cool

non-denatured whey protein. I also have a product called Recancostat Stabilized

reduced glutathion for exposures. It is quite expensive so mainly just use it

when have been chemically exposed. The whey is a milk product. Does not always

agree with me. My Dr and I use energy testing to check amounts and find my body

does not like big doses. I usuall y take one cap of each ALA and NAC.

Hopefully everyone will listen to their bodys. Blessings Joyce

anyone on here is taking it, how much do you take? I started out

taking 2 capsules, which turns out to be 600 mg each. Then it occured

to me to check Buhner, and he suggests 600 mg of ALA, another

precurser. I've submitted a question to him re difference between NAC

and ALA.

Also,

anyone heard of or experienced any side effects from taking too much?

thanks,

ellen

my understanding :-O is that there are different opinions on this. i've been

researching andrew cutler's metal detox protocol for about a year. his

protocol makes most sense to me, based on my experiences.

one thing cutler says (again from my grasp of it) is that ALA is a potent

mercury chelator and crosses the blood brain barrier to remove mercury

better than any other chelator. therefore, if you have mercury poisoning and

still have your amalgams, do not use ala. even if you have your amalgams

removed, if you have merc toxins and are not chelating with an effective

protocol, ala could trigger much worse symptoms.

cutler also urges extreme caution with using glutathione in mercury toxic

people. glut can trigger terrible symptoms in SOME merc toxic people. iv

glut is the worst. this is one i can vouch for. i had ONE iv glutathione (i

tested glut deficient) and i had immeditate severe reaction. all the gains i

had made over four months were undone. and it took me another 4-5 months to

regain the lost ground.

on the other hand, my llmd highly recommends ala for liver health. i chose

to stop using it until i have amalgams out and have done the cutler mercury

detox. after my glut exp, i also stopped NAC (which my doc had recommended

too.)

fyi, buhner may not be very experienced with mercury chelation.

one perspective, so maybe be cautious. if you notice increase or new

symptoms, try stopping the glut or ala.

curiously,

kendra
