Guest guest
Hi Connie, I'm not expert nor Buhner, but I suppose the core protocol is a core protocol, you shouldn't skip it. The rest are supportive things to help with symptoms or co-infections. I don't know how to deal with the co-infections part (there had been some discussions here before about babesia treatment and CP), but I suppose all the rest should be taken with the CP. The CP is supposed to deal with many symptoms too. If I were you, I would start with it, then add the other herbs/ supps he suggests. It may take some time for your body to adjust to all herbs at first. Selma > > Just got Buhner's book. I've been treated for Neuro Lymes for the past 11 months with > antibiotics. Guest guest
Hi Selma and Everyone, Hope this finds you well! Selma, Is the person you wrote this to named Connie? Wasnt sure if there was another Connie on the list (as I didnt write the below message). Anyhow, from my personal perspective on this, I would agree that whoever wrote the below should not skip the core stuff...esp. andrographis and cat's claw, as these are key Lyme bug killers.... That said, however, I visit an LLMD in Seattle who trains under Dr. K and they use Buhner's book...and what they have found is that each person DOES differ as to what parts of the protocol they need. For instance, they found that my body wants andrographis for babesia instead of artemisinin; also that my body will not use cat's claw when given alone but will use it in a tincture with other herbs. Also some weird things like my gut actually wants siberian ginseng. Ginseng is named for other positive effects in B's book, but not much mention is made of it healing the gut. There are a few other herbs on the list I cannot take (there is one that encourages blood clotting--maybe resveratrol? cant remember...) that I dont take because I already have hypercoagulation. My point with this is simply to suggest finding out a method by which one can determine what on the protocol is most useful for one personally...it may exclude some things that a person thought to be essential. In the absence of a practitioner competent in muscle testing, trial and error and intuition may be the only way to go, though, in which case I would personally stick to the " core. " Thanks for allowing my two cents on this Connie selmanaka <hardynaka@...> wrote: Hi Connie, I'm not expert nor Buhner, but I suppose the core protocol is a core protocol, you shouldn't skip it. Guest guest
Yes, I agree with Selma. I looked through the book again and from what I can see, the core protocol is meant as a basis to start from. The add-ons are for a more comprehensive, symptom-specific treatment approach. It would be great if you could get guidance from an herbalist or naturopath familiar with herbs and/or Lyme. www.PlanetThrive.com > > Hi Connie, > > I'm not expert nor Buhner, but I suppose the core protocol is a core > protocol, you shouldn't skip it. Guest guest
Selma and Luna Girl The guidance I received on this WAS from a naturopath. It was a licensed practitioner who told me my body did not want EVERYTHING on the core protocol and who tested me personally to find out (she trained under one of the best, and most successful LLMD " s in the United States), hence why I suggested the idea of every person being different in their needs. But in the absence of personal testing, I would agree with you 100 percent that doing all the core is the way to go!! Thanks-- Connie lunagirl32002 <j_genser@...> wrote: Yes, I agree with Selma. Guest guest
hi, I also agree with the advice other posters have given. I think Buhner's approach to Neuro Lyme is one of the most comprehensive I've read. In addition, I don't know if you have been on the list long enough to have seen this: Buhner will be answering questions, so you can ask him yourself. see msg #279. If I remember correctly, elsewhere said the column will be ongoing. Also want to mention re sleeping- I have a big problem with this too - melatonin gives me bad dreams. I do have good results from 2 homeopathic remedies by Boiron- one is quietude and the other is Sedalia. I find that using herbs or homeopathics, after some months of the same remedy it may not work as well, so for me, switching every so often helps. good luck, ellen > > Just got Buhner's book. Guest guest
Thanks Ellen. I will look into those 2 homeopathic remedies for sleep. Melatonin makes me feel very foggy headed the next day. I did start the main protocol, 3 items and also Siberian Ginsing. I'm actually feeling quite good on it, except for some constipation. I will try adding C tomorrow and see if that helps. I will also slowly introduce the other treatments suggested for Neuro Lymes one at a time. My main problem right now is the sleep. I've never had sleep problems in my life. Take care, Tony --- rasheedaas <rasheedaas@...> wrote: > hi, > I also agree with the advice other posters have > given. Guest guest
Connie, Thanks for your thoughts. I will explore what's best with me, trying first without a practitioner. I'm in New York city. If anyone knows one please let me know. My name is Tony, by the way, Conny is short for my middle name. I did start the core protocol 3 items and also Siberian Ginsing. Guest guest
Hi Tony, I will ask my LLMD to see if she knows anyone in NY who uses Buhner's book. Sounds like you are on the right track, though. Sometimes trial and error is the best way, anyhow, to find out if something works. I too, have sleep issues, which have gotten worse on the protocol (not sure if a herx or that the herbs are stimulating). It can be hard to find something that works to treat insomnia...I seem to rotate remedies a lot. Anyhow, good luck and will let you know if I find out anything-- Take care, Connie Antony Geralis <tconny2004@...> wrote: Connie, Thanks for your thoughts. Guest guest
Hi Tony, Be sure to read 138 of the book side effects and contraindictions. I have used Siberian ginseng in the past with problems of not being able to sleep and increased anxiety. Also I have had problems with constipation since starting the protocal and have had to increase my vit c to extreme amounts. Buhner does say most of the herbs are mildly constipating. I have found them more than mildly constipation. Also magnesium can help. I use Allergy Research group Buffered C with mag, calcium and potassium. My MD said to use it to bowel tollerance. Take care Joyce Antony Geralis <tconny2004@...> wrote: Thanks Selma, I did start the core protocol 3 items and also Siberian Ginsing. Guest guest
Congrats on your fast improvement, Tony! I add chlorella to detoxify, it's wonderful for me. Before I knew chlorella, I was also using a cheaper thing called Chitosan, also said to take off heavy metals (like chlorella). I had good results with it. Once you kill lyme bacteries, I believe we release toxins and heavy metals, and the neuro symptoms do worsen (specially insomnia, jitterness). Just my own experience. Adding chlorella/ possibly Chitosan may help decrease these symptoms. I find the 'killing' protocol of Buhner excellent, but I do think we need to add cleansing supps (I have chlorella as part of my CP, and other supportive stuff I may add or not, like milk thistle, chitosan, nettle etc). The problem with chorela is sometimes to digest it (I had troubles in the beginning), and to find a good/ clean product (I had excellent experiences with one brand, but don't want to advertise it much here). I was ART tested for chlorella, the first session came out with about 30 tablets a day, then after I had to take about a hundred in day one, then decrease slowly until I got to 50 small pellets, that's my average intake now. I started with chlorella in April, since then I never stopped. I'm as fan of chlorella as much as andrographis! I'm giving it to my daughter who's only 2, about 8 tablets a day, she's taking it now, fortunately. Even when I was not on chlorella before April, Buhner's CP made my insomnia much better with the time. I just tried to adjust the amount of herbs, so that there was not too much killings. I always felt that for each herb, there was a 'just right' amount. Good luck and hope you sleep better soon! Guest guest
Thanks Selma. Don't know anything about Chlorella. I'll look into it. Any thing that can help. Hate that this web site posts my last name. Oh well. Minds not clear enough to figure out how to work it more anonymously. This sleep thing is really a problem. Hope, as you say, with CP, it will improve. Tried a homeopathic remedy last night. Didn't work, so took more melatonin. Makes me feel very hung over the next day. I'll look into Chlorella. Anything that can help. Am considering a psychopharmaceutical, though hate to go that route.
