Marta,

I'm sooo sorry about your visit. I changed my app to aug 13th when my

boyfriend could take off from school and work. What a Jerk!!!!!! I'm

cancelling my appointment with this jerk today.... I'm glad I didn't go

because chances are I would have started to cry and my boyfriend has NO

tolerance for that anymore. I think he would have punshed the doctor out.

He see how I struggle and how I would do anything to get my life back.

Your letter really pisses me off Marta. I am so sorry that you had to go

through that. You know it's times like this when as mean as it sounds I kind

of wish that we could switch places with doctors like him and make them live

in our bodies and in our minds to REALLY know what it is we go through on a

dialy basis and how it feels to leave a doctors office after a visit like

urs. What ever happened to the Hippocratic Oath?? Do they still take that

oath? What a joke.. You know alot of doctors are changing now because of this

insurance scandal. It's a darn shame !! How do they sleep at night??? Or even

live with themselves???

Dear Marta,

I just got sick to my stomach and heart after reading your post.

I also said all the curses you KNOW I know. I'm so-o-o-o sorry! I

really thought we had a winner here.

I have Doc B's fax number, do you want to send this to him so

he can see how you've been treated -- or should I say -- NOT treated?

This is just horrible. Maybe it's time to see my ID guy? He put me on

IV immediately (insurance didn't and still doesn't want to pay for it) but

he knew there was no other way left for me.

With deep regret,

Marleen

Marta,

I am sorry you had to go through that unpleasant experience. I fail to

understand why some physicians are so conservative and judgemental. Too bad

you didn't point out to him that his fly is wide open!! lol... See if you

can find a LLMD who can treat you.

It is good thing that he revealed to you the fact he is a consultant to the

insurance company.. That is a conflict of interest because he cannot help

his patients fairly if he is in the cahoots with the insurance companies.

Keep your head up :)

Poor Marta!!!!

I am so upset for you!!!! I have met a few like that moron during

the past 6 1/2 years of this lyme life of hell.

PLEASE.....try (tho it may be hard) to just think of it as a learning

experience......you now know what a jerk that doctor is.....what a

two-faced, egotistical, insurance company butt kissing, disgrace to

the medical profession, Steere/Sigal fan club member, dick hanging out IDIOT

this doctor is...(hmmm maybe he was twiddling

before he went in to see you????? LOL) Sorry I am being so sick

and perverted, God forgive me!! MY blood pressure is boiling!!!!but......

NOW you can warn others......and we can add him to our unlymelit

list!!! You now have the power to educate the public from first

hand experience....and you have a witness to back you up to boot!!

(your hubby)

Sounds like you went thru a lot of emotional trauma.....but you will

recover and survive.....remember we lymies are a tough lot......we

can't let the suckers get us down......we will win this battle....no

matter how long it takes.....and maybe we will slide down the mountain a bit

at times.....but we always can pick up where we left

off after catching our breath and resting our aching bodies.

You are a really nice, wonderful person deserving of much better

treatment!!! That doctor needs to get off his pedestal long enough

to listen to people......but with a guy like that, he is so wrapped up

in self-glorification that it would be impossible to get thru his

beebee brain!!!!!!

Maybe you should report him to the medical board because of

his horrible treatment (verbal harrassment) of you.......and in any event,

you should call your insurance company and insist that they NOT

pay him for visit since he did not physicallly treat you in any way shape or

form. He is not a psychologist!!!!! Did he even listen to your heart and

check your pulse????

Sorry for my rant Marta......but I like you very much and

consider you a good friend and I hate when my friends are

hurt in any way......especially by jerks who are basically trying

to rule the world!!!!!!! I know that what comes around goes around,

and that God will take care of him someday........but I still can't

help but feel that it is just so unfair that you had to suffer MORE

emotionally on top of everything else!!!! Like you don't have enough

pain already!!!! Remember we love you!!!!!!

I think we all care so much for you that we are taking this personally.....I

know I am . that SOB

Ditto on everything Fransea said and more. I am just sick over this.

Although a hassle, perhaps suing your insur. co is a thought..

IF you have any previous positive tests you have grounds

These bastards are refusing to treat you, what are you supposed to do, DIE

and then send him a report on your spirochete filled autopsy??

Is LLMD willing to give you IV if insur would pay??? If so, threaten a big

suit or join a class action one or START a class action one.

What about the free drug thing?? I am just so frustrated

Hmm, I seem to recall reading an article somewhere online about a lawyer

setting up a classsuit for lyme patients who have been refused antibiotic

treatment by the doctors and/or insurance companies. Unfortunately though I

just read it recently, like last week, I cannot remember where I saw it due

to the large volume of e mails and articles I read. Perhaps someone here

knows about this.

Hi Marta,

What a.....moron (substitute the obscene noun of your choice...I didn't

want to offend any virgin ears)!!! He sounds just like the

Lyme-illiterate Neurologist who told me after reading reports from two

specialists that I should be treated for Lyme disease, that HE didn't

think that I had it because I ONLY had 4+ bands on my WB ( " the CDC has

their criteria for a reason " ) and that I had gotten worse on abx. I was

able to get some of my anger out by screaming at him...but was still

furious. I can imagine how you feel.

This guy revealed his true colors by telling you that he works for an

insurance company...you should disregard everything that he told

you...he is the enemy.

I'm confused, were you tested again for Ehrlichiosis, or just Lyme? Now

this may sound stupid, but if you need positive testing for your ins.

co. to pay for IV, could you have the area of your bite which swells up

all the time cultured for proof of Bb (or am I hallucinating that they

can do that)?

I'm sure that when you go back to your LLMD, that you will tell him

NEVER to send anyone to him again. Let us know how you are feeling after

starting abx again, and HANG IN THERE!!!! Hugs

If you are sero-positive, he may have a different view, but actually I

can't blame you for not going, he was definitely a jerk.

Both my husband and I went in there with the agreement that we would not

lose our cool. It doesn't pay, last time I got annoyed and spoke critically

to a doctor, he wrote on my files that I needed a psychiatric exam, and I

was obsessed with having Lyme disease, funny, it was another INF. Disease

doctor. I think I will avoid all these guys forever.

Hi Marleen,

Thanks for your kind thoughts for me, and curses to the doctor! LOL! I

did fax my experience to Dr. B. yesterday, letting him know that this guy is

not going to be any help to sero-negative patients, in case he had plans to

refer him to someone else.

I would like to see your guy, but since I am sero-negative, and according

to all my blood tests, poster girl for great health, do you think he would

be willing to fight the insurers for me. Somehow I doubt it. Did you know

this guy I saw and your guy were once partners?

Hi ,

I did manage to get in the comment, that more doctors, especially

Infectious disease doctors needed to get this disease in order to understand

it. But he totally ignored me.

I think doctors recite the Hippocratic oath by rote, but don't listen to

the words. It's all about greed, this doctor figured out he can make lots

more money from insurance companies, reviewing their claims and naysaying

chronic Lyme disease, than he could in treating it. Think about it, would

the insurer use him if he disagreed with their thoughts on minimal treatment

for tick bites??? If he wants to stay on the gravy train, he has to dance

to their tunes.

That's why I think the doctors who are willing to treat this disease,

with all the controversy and little research being done, are rare jewels, to

be cherished.

Thanks Joan,

You know that's a great idea, I will run to my doctors the very next

time it grows to golf-ball size, and beg him to culture it. In the past

when I mentioned this to my doctor, he told me he would like to see it, and

the next few times it was when he was off, on weekends or whatever. Usually

when this occurs, all I want to do is stay in bed, I feel lousy. I will

insist my husband take emergency leave and drive me. Can't hurt, right?

Only problem is I really have no faith in some of these labs, especially the

one I must use Kline Beecham. I will ask if I can have the culture

sent to BBI or IGenex at my own expense.

I was tested only for Bb and Babesia by PCR and by WB. My doctor told

me I no longer test positive for HME....according to the experts that is

easily cured with a few weeks of abx....hmmmm, where have I heard that

before?

I am glad you got to scream at the Neuro, I went in there deciding not to

lose my cool, as I am on SSDI, and will be reviewed again in the future, so

don't want to rock that applecart.

I tried to tell this idiot I saw about the swellings, and how would I

get this from CFIDS, he said that it is due to tissue damage????

Thanks again for your great idea, I am going to start abx again this

morning. Hope it takes care of the awful itching I am getting last few

days.

Hugs,

Hi Dabs,

Thanks for the kind words, my plans are to go back on abx, starting

today. I faxed my doctor yesterday to find out how to do it, the response I

got last week when I asked was to take 250mg of Zithromax twice a day for

one week, I am unclear what to do after the week is up. I imagine he thinks

I will herx after being off abx for over one month, so possibly he is

keeping the dosage low before he adds my Ceftin again. Thanks for your good

wishes and prayers.

Thanks ,

Like I said, this is common place practice in the world of Lyme. We

have two schools of thought, and those who should know about all the studies

on persistent infection choose to ignore them.

They don't attend any of the seminars or conferences to learn more about

this disease. Especially Infectious disease doctors who should be keeping

up with this disease. My doctor tells me they choose to ignore it as they

are making too much money off AIDS patients. Good for the AIDS patients

that are receiving treatment, but too bad for us. This Inf Disease doctor

was insistent that I should see a Rheumatologist....I have no idea why,

everyone just wants to pass the buck.
