Guest guest
Hi bluesky I tested negative for babs too, but the symptoms were there. I found out it can be a sleeper disease and come out at any time. My heat would start in my chest/back and then I would get so hot I couldn't breathe. It was awful. I finally tested positive last fall after 9 years. I did the Mepron 3 times, it has helped but it makes me really sick. I think I am going to ask my doc for melerone. I also take Magnesium (Slo-Mag) and it really helps the leg and muscle cramps. Good luck hugs, Connie, Michigan

Guest guest
This is all so scary to me. I haven't been to a Dr yet. Haven't been diagnosed. For years, I have had night sweats with the terrible leg cramps. (not together) I am only 34, so I thought it was a little early for menopause. Lately, I woke up shivering uncontrollably. My PCP had no idea. Just said, if it bothers you, come back in. The sweating is AWFUL!! I blamed it on my being fat. Shortness of breath, too. When I go to Wal Mart, it is so embarrassing! The other day I was sweating so bad, it was ridiculous! I bought a terrycloth visor to wear from now on. Hopefully, it (sweating) won't be as noticeable. I blamed the sweating on the stress my body was in from the pain I'm in when standing and walking. Which the Drs blame on my discs. What a mess!! I have an appt with a specialist in Oct. He only takes Medicare, and I don't get that until October. BUT, I plan on having a gastric bypass ASAP. So, 6 hours would be out of the question for me to drive. Janis, does your Dr take other ins? I have United Healthcare. I have United Healthcare Yes as far as I know Tammy at this point. We have Centra insurance this time since my husbands company has changed insurance providers since the last time I went. In 1996 I didn't have any problems with insurance or my medication. Let's see what happens this time. The good news so far is that I have been saving money like mad for the last 3 and a half years and I have some savings for a while if they don't help much. But with all we pay in to them they should do something good for sure. Luckily my job still wants me back there and hasn't escorted me out yet. I have taken some time off but they are already bugging me about working some. I will go to work for a while tonight since they are having a big 4th of July celebration and need as many warm bodies as they can get. LOL The only real changes I see so far since starting the Ceftin this last Monday is my typing is getting better and I am not having to do so much correcting. But Hey, I look at everything as positive with this darn disease and I know it takes a lot of rest and patience since its a slow thing to get better from. The good thing I guess is the only herxing I have ever done is just the feeling of fatigue seems to maybe increase when I start antibiotics. I feel lucky there. Someone once told me if I didn't herx then I didn't have Lyme disease. Not necessarily so. For me I just slowly start improving and I am not going to question that. My tests last time came up positive on the Western Blot IGG which means you have had a long standing infection with Lyme. My doctor is real interested in what they will be this time and wondered if I had been reinfected. I told him I didn't think so because we don't have pets in the house and I don't mess with the dogs my husband has at all. Heck my husband and I even sleep in seperate beds now is how scared I am of all of this since the last time I got it. He insists on hunting although he has curbed his hunting and now goes to a shooting range instead which he has insisted on them using a tick and flea killer (which I can't remember the name of now) to kill out ticks and fleas. I think it is anon that they are using. At least I have educated some in my area on the horrors of Lyme and that it is in this area. Anyway, I will have to wait to see how well the insurance handles this for now. Janis

Guest guest
Hi Tammy I had/have those awful sweats, by the time I get to the register, I am sweating so bad I look like a thief. I know when I write a check, they think I am trying to put one over on them. The mepron/zithromax has really helped. The sweats are back, but so much less. Good Luck, Connie, Michigan
Guest guest
LMAO!! I've thought the same thing about writing the check. How funny!! They can't think I'm a thief. Because of the pain, I only carry a large wallet, lol. We're getting ready now. I'm gonna wear my visor, no matter how goofy it looks. It'll still be dripping from the back of my hair, but hopefully, it won't be pouring down my face! Have a wonderful holiday! I did talk to my LLMD in Kansas City about sweating so bad this time around with my relapse and I asked him if it could be the Lyme. I didn't sweat at all that I remember in 1996. He said it was really hard to say since I will be 49 this coming Tuesday. He said if I was 23 years old he would certainly think something wasn't right. But at this age he didn't seem to think much of it and wasn't too alarmed or interested in checking for anything like Babesiosis. (He really is one sharp doctor though I must say compared to all the others I have ever seen.) That's for me though. Not sure about everyone elses age here. I can say they do seem to have tapered off a little since starting the 1000mg of Ceftin a day. I remember a friend of mine telling stories about his wife during menopause and I laughed so hard back then but I can relate now. He said she would wake up in the middle of the night with sweat pouring down her face and start chewing on him about anything she could think of. Then if one of the kids walked in the room in the day time and asked their mom to wash something for them he would look at the kid and say " Uh Oh, Your moms sweating again. You better get out of the way " ! LOL He said he and the kids really tiptoed around their mom during her menopause days. That's all over for her though I think now since she is in her 60's. She can't possibly have Lyme I don't think either. But hearing him talk about it was the funniest thing I had ever heard.

Guest guest
> I'm also having a very difficult time breathing and can only do a little bit > of walking. Everytime I mention my shortness of breath a doctor listens to > my lungs and everything sounds fine. I just posted a huge long message to Jeni about apparent cardiac symptoms that you should read regarding the shortness of breath. I have night sweats mostly, but a little in the day. Nothing at all like what you describe though. Has the shortness of breath been there long? Please go read the post I wrote to Jeni about this because if you're having any of those other symptoms too or if the s.o.b. (haha, really that's the medical abbreviation) progresses to them you need to go see another doctor who is more specialized than a family medicine doc. If it's cardiac or vascular, your lungs might sound o.k. but that doesn't mean the s.o.b. is nothing. Also, you can go to Medline as a jumping off point on babesia/babesiosis. They have links to articles about it. You can also try the CDC or the NIH, but Medline should link to them. Good luck, -
Guest guest
I forgot to say in my introduction, that I believe I also had babesiosis when I was Lyme diagnosed, altho I didn't get tested for it. I had massive night sweats, woke up drenched, which I had never had before. So I took Artemisian, which Buhner recommends, for 40 days, and after about a week, no more night sweats. ellen
