Guest guest
I piosted a week or so ago my 8 year old son's lyme test results, in which he has a positive IgM result. My son has autism and I understand that many of the symptoms of autism mimic lyme. The reason we got the lyme testign done is that he had a clear improvement in his autistic symptoms when treated for an unrelated tooth infection. I mean amzing improvents in eye contact, language, and cognition. IAfter much reading I decided I do not want to got he antibiotic route with him, and ordered the Buhner book. I have all the key herbs on order, and actually already had the cat's claw on hand, which I began last Wednesday. I am ramping up slowly. I actually am putting myself and both my sons on the protocol b/c I think we all have lyme based on symptoms alone. I guess we will start with the cat's claw and work up to the weight adjsuted dose. So far so good. I tend to feel rather " tingly " in my face, arms and leges shortly after taking it, wopner what that's about. But te boys seem to be doing well on the cat's claw so far. I have on order: andrographis, reversatrol, sarasparilla (smilax), and stephania (inflammation control product). Any suggestions on which herb to add next? I am also unsure about adding the astragalus. has +IgM and I am not sure if this means recent infection necessarily or not. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Beth I have a good understanding of autism and lyme and am unaware of any relationship. What makes you think this? Guest guest
thanks ellen I had a look at this and it confirms my original understanding that there probably isn't a link. In simple terms look at the type of behaviours found on the autistic spectrum and then look at typical lyme symptoms-neurological, arthritic, cardiac, there really is no apparent relationship..if you have lyme disease you are physically incapacitated, people with autism tend to be as physically capable as those without. It may well be that some people with autism have lyme disease compounding their difficulties and most people with autism would find it impossible to at least verbally communicate how they are feeling. Unfortunately looks like another example of desperate parents of children with autism looking for a medical hypothesis. However no harm, trying the antibiotics and/or herbs if you suspect lyme. jaco [ ] Re: Started Buhner's protocol in my 8 yo son with autism lyme-autism/ ellen
Guest guest
, Please see this link for evidence of lyme and autism: http://www.lymeinducedautism.com/ Beth > > Hi Beth > > I have a good understanding of autism and lyme and am unaware of any relationship. Guest guest
no, that's not really true. Sometimes people with neuro-Lyme don't have physical symptoms, also, not everyone who is exposed goes on to develop very strong symptoms at all, but there can be less noticable effects (ie like not noticable physical effects) for years before it becomes debilitating. russel.huxtable wrote: > > thanks ellen > > I had a look at this and it confirms my original understanding that > there probably isn't a link.
