Guest guest
Do you know why I believe the hardest part about getting doctors to treat Lyme disease is not about the controversy but because they are lazy!! I know I know I can hear you all saying it now. But I work for a doctor and have just discovered how lazy they are (a big majority but not all I know). Unfortunately because I have some morals and ethics I have to find another job but I just can't be happy working for someone whose ethics and care for her patients does not go beyond office hours and any questions you have that aren't answered at a scheduled office visit and you are considered a troublemaker. Doctors do not want to think about the disease you have. They just want to look it up in a book and treat you accordingly. They certainly do not want to see you every week. They want you to come back every 3 months or so for a recheck on your labs and they do not want you to complain. Plain and simple they are lazy AND greedy. Sorry I am a little pissed off. Guest guest
kathleen....while some doctors are lazy i am sure....my feeling is that the biggest problem is the insurance industry and the insurance whore docs like sigal and steere who take large amounts of money to testify that treatment is not nessacary...doctors are no longer able to use their training they are TOLD BY A $7 CLERK AT AN INSURANCE CO HOW TO TREAT...WHAT TEST TO ORDER ECT... just last friday there was an article in the usa today i believe of ins. co questioning docs.....they get the info from patients records.....insurance co.s have turned docs in for overtreatment of lyme due to dx codes on insurance forms....some docs no longer put the lyme code down.....i can't blame them......our problem ignorance and big bussiness....they want ur money but they don't wat to pay out.....lyme can be an expensive disease to treat......and if they can say we don't have it they don't have to pay......over 500 people in g burg proved them wrong we truly are ticked off and fed up......ssd does not give me and others money for nothing we are truly sick.....i don't really care what u call it......but i have it and many others share the same symptoms ..feeelings...and problems....i wasa approached by a few people in g burg.....and they truly have lyme....but can not get a dx....we talked about some things that are not yet on the symptom list but that lymies as a whole have come to recognize as lyme syptoms things that they could have never read about to fake it......and they had the same problems......revolt is in the air....TOFU....TOFU...TOFU Reid
Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, You have every right to be pissed at the doctor. I find that more and more in doctors I see. Working for one like that must be awful. Especially if one is compassionate and caring as you sound. Aside from being uncaring, and lazy, many doctors fear treating LD, due to the controversy, maybe not in your doctor's case, but in others. There are some great doctors out there, just getting harder to find. Whatever happened to " First do no harm? " I have yet to find a doctor that I really like and trust, and I am 50 years old. There must be one out there, wait a minute, they guy who operated on my elbow in 1987 was nice and concerned. OK I met one. I have been pretty unlucky otherwise. Many of the doctors who treat LD, have LD themselves, that is the case with my present doctor, and he has a very ill daughter too, not with LD, she has spina bifada. I find it hard to get angry at my doctor for not returning calls or forgetting things that are important to my care because of this. I really am between a rock and a hard place as he accepts my insurance, I don't know where else I could go. I hope you find a good doctor to work for, they are getting hard to find.
