The stress in preparing for the April "2nd Battle of Gettysburg" (SBOG) has led to the identification of another Lyme disease symptom; selfish, childish behaviour. Identifying characteristics are paranoia, withdrawal from a wide-flung support group, and simplistic name calling.

It seems that all the functions being planned for the SBOG don't meet with the "approval" of some the now-cancelled attendees. Most event planners find that to be the case; you can't please all of the people all of the time.

However, most parents will tell you that children under eight years of age just don't understand that the whole day isn't about them. Only with maturity comes the understanding that other points of view and interests (even political) should be entertained.

As I understand it, the SBOG will encompass an educational seminar for under-educated doctors: we've all lemented the fact that there aren't enough LLMDs out there. This day sure goes a long way in making that a fact of the past. Applause, applause, applause.

The meeting on the square has been designed as a media event: in the past people have decried the lack of media attention. The list, and stature, of "confirmed" attendees, keeps growing. More and louder applause please. As has been discussed in our past discussions of protests, street theatre also gets press. Mis-Tick, Lyme Green Ribbons, The Children, The Halt, The Sick, The Lame, The IV Poles - all get the pictures taken and in the news - MORE AND LOUDER APPLAUSE PLEASE.

The "circus" or the "party" afterwards - as has been pointed out before, this is called "hospitality." It is not a required event. Nor was being there the night(s) before, where the event organizers spent a lot of effort finding accomodations, giving directions, etc.

The "party", a catered event, is much like a reception. It is a way for all the participants; Lymies, press, doctors, press, spies, press, family, PRESS, friends, etc. to get to know each other. Most of don't know each other anyway. This is an open list. Spies can see our unguarded words, why not our unguarded moments. If a spy gets a picture of you doing the hully-gully for the first time in twenty years, so what? They are more likely to get twenty pictures of zombies to go with it.

Remember the award winning video, "The Faces of Lyme." We are all different, each case of Lyme is different, the capability of each event organizer is different, and the wind-down needs of each event attendee is different.

If there is a part of the event you don't like, don't attend. But if you didn't help plan it, and you didn't help pay for it, please don't trash it. Even if you don't feel like supporting the complete event, please support the organizers, and the cause. You might not approve of the methods, but the results are what matter.

Rose and I won't be able to be there (it's a long way from Texas), but we want to feel the RUMBLE from here. After all, if you get our Goveror to attend, there should be national TV exposure, which is the original goal of the SBOG.R. -- Euless, TexasA Tick Made Me SickTIICS Are Keeping Me That Way(The Insurance Industry Captive Specialists)http://www.angelfire.com/biz/romarkaraoke/james.html3-10-2000

BRAVO! SUPER LOUD APPLAUSE TO YOU! Boy , I just enjoy reading your post so much. You have such a gift with words. I struggled with my posts last night, trying to say what you expressed but just didn't have the right words. I forget do you have Lyme? I think you do, but find it hard to believe you can and still write so eloquently. I really admire how you write, and I bit envious. Thanks for saying it so well again! Vicki, Md
