Guest guest
Dear Kay, Perhaps LUAT could mean that no " chetes " were circulating in blood while you were collecting samples. Don't know for sure... Chris
Guest guest
Hi Kay Just my interpretation. Lyme is a clinical dx. The WB looks positive. For females, it is best to do the luat during menses (I believe days 2, 3, 4). Also, you call call Dr. 800-832-3200 in CA at Igenex lab. He doesn' t seem to mind calls. Also, go to igenex.com and read all about the tests. good luck lea << hi all, my wb was positive with 7 bands reactive, specific; 83, 39, 37, 31, 23 plus 66 and 41. today the doctor called, my luat was negative. i took 2000 mg. tetracycline and collected specimens on days 3, 4, 5. what does this mean? what doesn't it mean? anybody??? peace, kay >>
Guest guest
H iKay, I have the package insert for LUAT & it says specimens should be collected on days 4-6 & patient should be taking Biaxin (believe it also mentions an alternative to Biaxin). Hope this helps, Chris
Guest guest
In a message dated 99-12-15 03:59:27 EST, you write: << As far as I am concerned all Lyme serology and urine tests are suspect, none can be guaranteed 100%, maybe the WB when one has not been treated for LD in the past, but after that it is not reliable. Lyme is still a clinical dx, Kay, off list I am sending you information about understanding the WB, Hugs, Marta NJ >> Dear Kay, , Marta & All, On the WB topic - I can tell you personal experience - that daughter's tests for WB, ehrylichia & babesia came back all negative (subsequent to positive lyme antibody test done at a different local hospital). The wb, bab & ehrylichia tests were sent to Mayos & all negative. Results read: Bands found " 0 " - reference range <5. So I asked local doc who is not LLMD, but did dx her clinically & put her on meds while we searched for specialist - " Does this mean that if 1 - 4 bands were found, because of CDC reporting criteria guidelines (loopholes) - they could actaully report 0 bands found? " His answer - after pondering question for a moment - " YES! " So, never let it be thought or said that " a negative " is " a negative " where these diseases are concerned. Should add that within 2 days of blood being sent to Mayo (all negative), another, more respectable lab reported back positive on babesia! At a ratio of 1:80 -- negative is <1:16!!!!! Funny our " friends " at Mayo - with probably some of the best facilities & most $$$$ to do things " right " - could not seem to do an accurate test for a " tick " disease. Hmmm... Blessings & velcro hugs, Chris

Guest guest
Kay, All it means is that there was no antigen caught those days. My doctor recommended waiting until I felt my worse (during my herxs that occurs every three or four weeks), when I did that, all three came out highly positive, as opposed to my first test when I just did it after a few days of antibiotics. He said the antibiotics help to shed more antigen, but during herx the shedding is greater. My first tests for borderline. So maybe you could try waiting for a herx and doing it again. Your neg LUAT doesn't mean you don't have Lyme still, that is evident by your Western Blot. Good luck Vicki, Md >>From: " Kay " <b10g7@...> >> >>hi all, >> >>my wb was positive with 7 bands reactive, >>specific; 83, 39, 37, 31, 23 >> >>plus 66 and 41. >> >>today the doctor called, my luat was negative. >> >>i took 2000 mg. tetracycline and collected specimens on days 3, 4, 5. >> >>what does this mean? what doesn't it mean? >> >>anybody??? >> >>peace, >>kay
