Guest guest
(He actually went into greater datail on TV. Endemnic area, seriousness, etc) (I saw it live) ( Yes, he didn't get it all right.) While working in the yard this weekend, Dave discovered 3 ticks attached to his torso. To make sure they were ticks, Dave brought them to work and dumped them on his desk during the show. He had staff physician Dr. Lou Aronne on the line and when the time came, Dave asked the Doctor if he could tell if they were actually the dreaded tick? Dr. Lou, wanting to be helpful, hemmed and hawed not knowing what to say. Why? Because Dr. Lou was on the phone and could not see if they were ticks. Oh, details, details. Dave quickly hung up the phone and then used what is known as a lipstick cam to get a close-up of the possible tick. Why is it called a lipstick cam? Don't know. Probably because it is no bigger than a lipstick. Comparing what we saw with the lipstick cam with a photo of an actual tick, it became obvious that what Dave had clinging to his torso indeed were ticks. Dave then lectured us on the correct way to remove an engorged tick. 1. If helps if you can stand over a mirror.2. Light a match3. Blow out the match and put the hot ember to the tail of the tick4. Wait till you hear the tick cry " Ow! Ow! Ow! " then yank him out with a tweezer, making sure you do not leave the head.5. Bring to work and show your friends Dave admits he spent the whole weekend pulling ticks out of his ass.
Guest guest
Hi Jane, Thanks for the update on the Stupid Letterman Ticks....;-) He was mighty foolish for burning the tick before removal, hope he doesn't get LD, not sure he would make a good spokesperson. I used to adore him and never missed his show, ( I taped it) but the last few years I can't bear to watch him, not sure why that is. I prefer Conan. Well at least his show will bring the problem of ticks to the forefront, he has been tick crazy for years, he used to have a recurring character on the show dressed as a tick, and often spoke of his fear of Lyme disease. Guest guest
>2. Light a match >3. Blow out the match and put the hot ember to the tail of the tick Boy!!! No kidding, he didn't get everything right!!! He told millions of people exactly how to get a tick, engorged or not, to PUKE into your blood stream!! If those " suckers " had Bb, engorged or not, he's toast!! I'm glad he didn't add suffocation with fingernail polish to that list!! Anything that makes them back out also makes them regurgatate right into your blood stream! Wonder if a few hundred e- mails would get him to update the info on the air?!!! I know no harm was intended but that kind of misinformation could be costly to a ton of people!! Carolyn

Guest guest
Carolyn, This is an absolute great idea! Here is a website where you can send Dave a note: http://www.cbs.com/network/tvshows/mini/lateshow/clubhouse/email_us/index.shtml Let's each write a quick message pointing out the correct things he said and the incorrect. It doesn't need to be a dissertation! Just a short note. I told him only 50% (at best) of us ever get the Lyme rash. But I'm glad he said it can be a horrible disease. We need to encourage his bravery to bring this subject up. He does have a high viewer count. So what does everyone say? Just one more short note, over the web, to promote our disease? It'll take you no more than ten minutes. And who knows, maybe we can scare Dave into actually researching this thing more accurately. Robynn [ ] Re: Letterman ticks >2. Light a match>3. Guest guest
Hi Robynn, Just sent my letter off, I wish I had seen the show, we would be compounding the misinformation he has advertised if we do not demand he have a tick expert on the show who will explain the proper way to remove a tick. There is no humor in this disease. Maybe Lovette will invite him to G-burg. Hugs, Marta From: and/or Robynn <nebneb@...> Carolyn, This is an absolute great idea!
