What I have learned in my Ayurvedic study over the years, is that herbs

will work on different parts of the body, based on how you take them.

The Ayurvedic theory is:

Take herbs on empty stomach generally for blood cleansing. (I try to

take all my lyme/co-infection herbs on an empty stomach whenever

possible).

If treating digestive problems, take herbs with food. (I may try doing

the Allimax garlic supplement with food, since I have a lot of

infection in my gi tract. It also will well on empty stomach,

systemically).

If treating organs and systems above the digestive area, such as heart,

lungs, head (including brain, sinuses, etc,) take herbs AFTER food, so

the effects migrate to the upper region on the body.

So it's a fairly easy rule of thumb to follow.........

I also intuit when and how the taking of herbs is appropriate for my

own case. Since I and most of us have infection in every part of our

bodies, we are going to get benefit no matter how and when we take the

herbs.

When I take herbs and salt/c on an empty stomach, I always get the

strongest reaction - so if I am trying to minimize the herx effect, I

will these things with a meal.

Take care,

Jnanda

Jnanda,

That is interesting about herbs! I did not know this.

What you say about taking andro with salt/C is interesting...I read once

someplace that taking electrolytes with herbs helps to shuttle them into the

cells, so it would make sense that you have a more powerful effect taking them

together. (Not to mention the doubled effect of two anti-spirochetal items)

Thanks!! Blessings, Connie :)

In Ayurveda, they also will use " vehicles " to help transport the

herbs deeper into the body systems. This is somewhat based upon what

dosha or constitutition a person is. One such vehicle/medium, is

taking herbs with ghee (clarified butter). Now many of the

supplements on the market are using some type of lipo additive or

fat, to make it more bio available - or recommending that herbs be

taken with some type of fat such as cream, coconut milk or coconut

oil. Same principle at work.
