Guest guest
This is what I received from Art in reference to questions for Steere. NOW, we have NO guarantee that these questions will ever be asked but we can provide to the PRESS/attendees a list of our questions. Rita said we must all learn to speak in sound bites. That leaves me out. Concise isn't my forte as I'm sure everyone can see. If you would like to add to these questions ... please do so. Marleen Here is the list of questions for Steere prepared by Rita S. for his November 1996 talk in Seattle - hope this helps: QUESTIONS FOR ALLEN STEERE 1. Chronically ill Lyme disease patients consistently report response to antibiotic treatment but are routinely denied antibiotic treatment based on your " standard of care. " Why? 2. Why do you routinely dismiss the large body of scientific data that points to persistence of infection as anecdotal? 3. Why are you on the record as having been opposed to the current treatment trials being conducted by NIH? 4. You are credited with coining the phrase " post Lyme syndrome " to explain ongoing symptomolgy. In the absence of a definitive test, how can you conclude that a patient has been sufficiently treated? 5. You have indicated that if a patient diagnosed with Lyme disease does not respond to treatment that the initial diagnosis was most likely incorrect. In the current climate of bacterial resistance how can you confidently make that conclusion? 6. Why did you testify against Dr. ph Natole, resulting in severe sanctions and his inability to treat 400+ Lyme patients? 7. Understanding that the primary reason Dr. Natole was sanctioned was his treating Lyme patients with antibiotics longer than 4 weeks, do you think his former patients feel you have done them a service? 8. How much were you paid to testify against Dr. Natole? 9. Why do you repeatedly ignore clinical doctors' findings and observations, and how many of these doctors have had their practices limited? 10. Why do you think your " standard of care " is popular with the insurance companies (with whom you consult) and managed care? ----- Art D. Guest guest
Wow! Those are GREAT questions. And Marleen, you certainly could do sound-bite format if you have them written down and stick to what's on the paper. Boy! do I wish I could be there to see how he responds or if we just get escorted out the door. Those of you who are going ... is anyone planning to take a video camera? Guest guest
Bernadette makes a good point -- I'd say the chances are strong that even if you bring a video cam, they won't let you take it in. It's worth taking it along, just in case, but the hidden tape recorder is a good back-up idea!
Guest guest
Marleen, I can't be precise either so that may leave me out. But I'm extremely stubborn when the underdog is being hurt, so if no one speaks up, I will, I'll just memorize the list of questions so I'm ready. Hope my brain can be ready to memorize, here goes more ginko biloba! Great questions, thanks! Guest guest
Video Camera, good idea, my husband has access to one, and I'll see if he will bring it. Thanks for the idea. Guest guest
Wow, these are perfect! This list of questions is the most potent weapon we have. Strategically, posing powerful questions is more effective that making strong statements. I'll keep them handy when emailing to media. This is the kind of clear thinking I not able to do. Thank goodness some of us can! beth Re: [Lyme-aid] Fwd: If YOU could be there, what would you say or show? > From: LymeFightr@... > > This is what I received from Art in reference to questions for Steere. > NOW, we have NO guarantee that these questions will ever be asked > but we can provide to the PRESS/attendees a list of our questions. > > Rita said we must all learn to speak in sound bites.
