Guest guest
Hi Selma, I'm not Jim Bob but thought I'd butt in here. Per directions from Sue Massie, I take Coptis in the evening right before bed and on an empty stomach. I started with 1/2 tsp. (mine is a liquid) but in a few days moved to 1 tsp. and haven't had any problems. Ballady , and this about 30 minutes or > less after intake). > > How much is your andro tolerance? Guest guest
Sorry Selma, I haven't been here in a few days, like I explained to you in my pm to you from the LymeNet site. Like I said also: I could take 12 capsules a day of the " 00 " size with no problems at all. I went on the Coptis for the same reason you did, to TRY and fool the Chetes. BUT, Coptis is VERY VERY strong, so go VERY sloooooooooooooow. I started out with one 00 pill a day for a week, then 2 a day for a week, and now 3 a day. Been taking it this round since August 24th. Seems longer. I have now dropped down to the " 0 " size pills and have been thinking of upping it to 4 a day. But haven't as yet. Absolutely do NOT take Andrographis on the same days as the Coptis. I quit Andro for a few days before starting Coptis. There is word in the wind that they are trying to make Coptis a PRESCRIPTION drug. It is THAT strong. IF you can only take 3 andro a day, then I would probably start out on the Coptis at about 1/4 of a " 0 " pill a day. Then after a week or so, try a 1/3 of a pill a day, then 1/2 a pill a day after another week. AND spread it out. Take half of that in the morning and half of the dose at night. Whatever dose you are on. Our bodies need to get accustomed to whatever herb we are on. AND some people can't take every herb that others can. JB ### selmanaka <hardynaka@...> wrote: How much do you think is your coptis tolerance? Do you think you improved on it? Gosh, I took 1/3 of a 00 capsule a few hours ago, I feel my blood pressure is going down, TOOO RELAXED, but somehow a bit afraid. I didn't take any andro since yesterday, but I feel this thing IS TOO POWERFUL !!!! I hope this is not an allergic reaction either. I'm just trying to find a substitute for andro,at least for a while, as I feel I've been too long on it. My naturopath told me borrelia is hiding deep in the tissues now and still active from there. They're good at hiding, so I wanted to make them a small surprise with coptis! She told me to stop Buhner's herbs, which I did, but relapsed light after 4-5 days (arthritic pains). Then went back to the herbs, got back in track fast. I get almost symptomless, except for some light chills sometimes (not always). I also relapsed a bit due to the 'allergy' (?) to knotweed, I suppose. I also tried andro tincture, it doesn't look right either (too weak). I feel I react to andrographis pills much faster than I react to this coptis, but it IS strong. I don't know if this is herx though, as andro gives me total different herxes (arthritic pains increase a bit, body temperature lowers, basically, and this about 30 minutes or less after intake). How much is your andro tolerance? Mine has always been 3 caps/day. Have you tried phelodendron, isathis, forsythia, and other anti- spirochetal herbs too? I wonder if I won't shift to them instead of this coptis... I got them all at home, but will certainly try one by one. Thanks for any input, Selma --------------------------------- Stay in the know. Guest guest
Thanks Ballady!! Is it tincture you take? Do you know the proportion (1:4 or 40%). Do you like the tincture (if it is?). Do you feel it works? Do you notice improvement/ herxes? How would you compare it to andrographis? Sorry for so many questions... I wished Buhner had writen about coptis so that I wouldn't be asking basic things like that. Guest guest
Hi Selma, I bought my Coptis and Chinese Bitters from Sue M. Yes, it is a tincture, from Sensible Health.com. It doesn't say anything on the bottle about proportion. I don't know if it works as I haven't been taking it that long. I am herxing so badly now, probably from salt/c, that I don't think I would recognize anything " working " . But I do feel my liver needs support (the bitters) and Coptis, among other things, is supposed to be good for people who have their gallbladder removed. You can read more about these herbs at the sensible health website. Ballady > > Thanks Ballady!! > > Is it tincture you take? Guest guest
Hi Jim, thanks again. I'm afraid of coptis now!!! Selma > > Selma: > I believe Buhner did NOT write about Coptis because he feels the andrographis is more managable and still does the job. It is easy to get into trouble with Coptis. It is so much stronger than the other herbs we take, and we have a tendency to take them for granted, and I for one got into BIG trouble a couple of months ago with the Coptis. > > I use about 1/4 as much Coptis as I did Andrographis. AND I take absolutely NO ANDROGRAPHIS with COPTIS. NON! I can't stress that enough. It IS dangerous to do so. > > Think of Coptis as STRONG, STRONG, STRONG! ! ! > > Jim > ### > > selmanaka <hardynaka@...> wrote: > Thanks Ballady!! > > Is it tincture you take? Guest guest
Selma, I don't think there is any need to be afraid of it from one person's comment. You can go to the sensible health web site and get additional information, if you are interested. I have been taking it with no problem at all. Guest guest
Ballady, thanks again. I do trust Jim, I know him for a while. I am much more sensible than him for herbs and I'm on andro AND artemisia annua (exactly like him). I know each person is different, but I got some liver pains recently, I wonder if they do not come from coptis (I mean, the WHOLE killing combo). I would rather try it later, when I can drop andrographis to test. In the moment, I can't drop andro as my symptoms return. I wanted just to substitute andro for another thing, just to see what happens as I'm with andro for quite some time. But I think I'll have to be patient. I can also ask my naturopath to test coptis for me next time. She's excellent on dosaging things, I never got in REAL trouble with the amounts of things she prescribed. I'll take a look at the site just for additional information. But I have quite a few herbs here to try too, like phelodendron, isathis, forsythia, all said to be antispirochetal. I may try one of these before coptis to see. I'm waiting for my liver to get back in track. Thanks for your advice! Guest guest
Jim, I can't believe you'll drive 3,000 miles!!!! Where are you based? I remember last year, that you were worried for your life, if you were going to see 2006!! It's an amazing progress. I'm on lymph drainage now, no worry. Pains are gone. Good luck. Too much fatigue can bring lyme symptoms back, take care you too! Selma > > Selma: > you are smart to hold off on the Coptis for now. I have had NO problems like you taking Buhner's near maximum of 12 capsules of Andrographis a day. BUT, like you, I had pains below the stomach area, probably the liver, AND my Lymph nodes were VERY painful when i took the Coptis the first time. Plus I felt really wierd. Took me a few weeks to get back to feeling more normal. I was wondering at the time IF I ever would. > > AND I was taking good doses of Red Root and Milk Thistle at the time, ( and still do). > > Not EVERYONE can take herbs, just because someone else can. You know YOUR body better than any of US do, so listen to it. > > I sure am glad I discovered herbs though. I am taking my trip to Texas tomorrow, over 3,000 miles, and last fall it just about killed me to drive 50 miles. Because of the pain, brain fog and vision problems. None of that right now. > > JB > ### >
