Guest guest
Selma: I believe Buhner did NOT write about Coptis because he feels the andrographis is more managable and still does the job. It is easy to get into trouble with Coptis. It is so much stronger than the other herbs we take, and we have a tendency to take them for granted, and I for one got into BIG trouble a couple of months ago with the Coptis. I use about 1/4 as much Coptis as I did Andrographis. AND I take absolutely NO ANDROGRAPHIS with COPTIS. NON! I can't stress that enough. It IS dangerous to do so. Think of Coptis as STRONG, STRONG, STRONG! ! ! Jim ### selmanaka <hardynaka@...> wrote: Thanks Ballady!! Is it tincture you take? Do you know the proportion (1:4 or 40%). Do you like the tincture (if it is?). Do you feel it works? Do you notice improvement/ herxes? How would you compare it to andrographis? Sorry for so many questions... I wished Buhner had writen about coptis so that I wouldn't be asking basic things like that. Guest guest
I don't know IF I would be AFRAID of Coptis, just use with extreme caution and do not take it for granted. Guest guest
Selma: you are smart to hold off on the Coptis for now. I have had NO problems like you taking Buhner's near maximum of 12 capsules of Andrographis a day. BUT, like you, I had pains below the stomach area, probably the liver, AND my Lymph nodes were VERY painful when i took the Coptis the first time. Plus I felt really wierd. Took me a few weeks to get back to feeling more normal. I was wondering at the time IF I ever would. AND I was taking good doses of Red Root and Milk Thistle at the time, ( and still do). Not EVERYONE can take herbs, just because someone else can. You know YOUR body better than any of US do, so listen to it. I sure am glad I discovered herbs though. I am taking my trip to Texas tomorrow, over 3,000 miles, and last fall it just about killed me to drive 50 miles. Because of the pain, brain fog and vision problems. None of that right now. I am much more sensible than him for herbs and I'm on andro AND artemisia annua (exactly like him). I know each person is different, but I got some liver pains recently, I wonder if they do not come from coptis (I mean, the WHOLE killing combo). I would rather try it later, when I can drop andrographis to test. In the moment, I can't drop andro as my symptoms return. I wanted just to substitute andro for another thing, just to see what happens as I'm with andro for quite some time. But I think I'll have to be patient. I can also ask my naturopath to test coptis for me next time. She's excellent on dosaging things, I never got in REAL trouble with the amounts of things she prescribed. I'll take a look at the site just for additional information. But I have quite a few herbs here to try too, like phelodendron, isathis, forsythia, all said to be antispirochetal. I may try one of these before coptis to see. I'm waiting for my liver to get back in track. Thanks for your advice! Guest guest
Hi Selma: I made the trip, but not without incident. I had an accident down in Marshall, Texas on my way to the Houston area. So had to spend three days in Marshall, trying to get my truck good enough to make the rest of the trip. I will have a couple of weeks of work ahead of me now on the truck fixing it up to be an acceptable driver. I am based in central Wisconsin. Hopefully THAT will be my last LONG trip. I am going to try to stick closer to home here in Wisconsin in the future, after my next trip, that is. i have about a 1200 mile trip ahead either later this month or early November, delivering an old Willys FC-150 truck I sold a guy and picking up some antique treadle sewing machines for my self, and also a car for myself, for parts. I am considering selling my car hauler truck and buying an E350 Ford small bus, and convert it. My Lyme was not bad on the trip, even though I ran out of herbs because my 6 day trip turned into 9 days because of the accident. Good to be home though and not on such a grueling schedule. take care, Jim. ### selmanaka <hardynaka@...> wrote: Jim, I can't believe you'll drive 3,000 miles!!!! Where are you based? I remember last year, that you were worried for your life, if you were going to see 2006!! It's an amazing progress. I'm on lymph drainage now, no worry. Pains are gone. Good luck. Too much fatigue can bring lyme symptoms back, take care you too! Selma > > Selma: > you are smart to hold off on the Coptis for now.
