A question about shoes... keds.

Greetings :

I recall that several months, or even a year ago, there was a

discussion about shoes and someone (?) mentioned that they can fit

their orthotics/AFO's in Keds? Am I correct? Is this true?

I currently have orthotics and some off-the-shelf AFO's (that

soon need replacement - no arch support). I don't wear either as

much as I should because I don't have enough sufficient shoes. In

the summer, I prefer my Birkenstock sandals with the backstrap for

standing comfort but I don't think that I walk that well in them. I

have some orthotics that are great but the only shoes they really fit

in are my New Balance Cross trainers - they are not very appropriate

for work. If orthotics can fit in Keds (removeable insole?) that

would be fantastic!! If I can find any reasonably priced summer or

casual shoes that can fit my orthotics it would be a big improvement.

I already know about New Balance, but I'm not really looking for an

athletic shoe.

I have checked the archives for Keds and even phoned the Keds

company (got a machine - left a message). If anyone knows the story

or could recommend some other shoes, I'd really appreciate it.

: ) marti
