Hi Happy and all,

I talked to my doctor last night and he said it could very well be the Motrin causing the edema, and he told me to contact the pain doctor today so I can get some percosets for the break through pain. I must admit once stopping them the pain was so much more severe, I am herxing every afternoon it seems, probably mornings too, but much worse in afternoon. I did take a Motrin yesterday at lunch time the pain was so bad, but it really doesn't help with herx pain. I am on Oxycontin too, morning and night, that doesn't help either. Maybe it stops working in afternoon, since I feel so much worse then. I also elevated the foot of my bed last night, and that should help reduce the edema.

Yesterday morning when I woke up I had more port pain, again, I attributed it to sleeping on it or something, but as the day went on, I could not move my left arm without pain in the port, I tried to infuse about noon, and couldn't get it to go thru the line, and severe pain, so I stopped and called the nurses for the third time. Very infuriating, the phone call to the head honcho who dispatches the nurses was irritating as she implied I am doing something wrong. Anyway, a nurse came out about 4PM, the same one who had put the last line in on Saturday for that emergency call. I told her I was able to infuse OK Sunday, but severe pain now. She tried to draw blood from the line and flush it, I had the most awful pain, I screamed and almost hit her. She could not get it to work either. I think she believes me now, the needle was all the way in, so it wasn't falling out this time, somehow my implanted port is shifting, and she cannot feel the back of it with the needle no matter how hard she tries, it may be flipping around in there. She suggested that I go for a venogram, but I found out they inject IVP dye, last time I had that for kidney studies, I had allergic reaction, the doctor who took care of me at the hospital told me never, ever, to have IVP dye again, as next time I may die....scary stuff. The nurse told me they could give me some anti-allergic meds before they do the test, I discussed this with my doctor last night, and have decided to get the damn port removed, he will give me a referral for a surgeon on Thursday. I will have to have a PICC line put in, I have a peripheral line in my arm now so I can continue to infuse daily. Anyway, was awful afternoon and evening, my nerves are shot, was shaking so hard in bed last night when I finally got there, shook the damn bed.

That's my sad story for today, I better get my act together before

G-burg.

Hugs,
