Guest guest
Hey, did anyone catch the evening news. Guess what? there were studies on the effects of Glucosamine Sulfate's and osteo arthritis financed by Glucosamines' company (?). Anyway, Doctors where so impressed by its effects and evidently NIH was VERY impressed. They were so impressed that they are putting up some astronomical (sp?) amount of money (in the millions at least, but I think I heard billions)for further research. It was far more than our measly $2 mil a year for the new Lyme Initiative. And Glucosamine has already been proven to work and isn't harmful. WHY CAN'T NIH put up that kind of money for LYME RESEARCH, I think they just don't believe its that serious. This made me so angry. If anyone heard this on the news tonight and know the correct amount NIH is offering for the research, please let me know, so I can have my facts in order for a letter to NIH, asking them why Lyme doesn't deserve as much, if not more. I mean after all Osteoarthritis patients have so many other medications already. There is no cure as far as I know, and as far as I know (I could be wrong)Osteo usually hits older people, its sort of like part of aging, isn't it? We have a disease hitting young and old alike. I don't begrudge any disease its fair due of research money, but it just seems like we aren't getting anywhere close to the amounts others are.
