Guest guest
Let me explain my perspective: Let me start with a little history. I run Lyme Aid at / and a handful of (or more) members were trying the Buhner protocol. Those members wanted a place where they could specifically discuss Buhner's book and treatment ideas. I was asked about starting a new group and through discussions with some of those wanting the new group I decided to volunteer to start and administer the new group myself. I named this group Lyme Aid Buhner because I liked the idea that is would fall under the Lyme Aid umbrella. This, I think, tells folks that this list will function very similarly to Lyme Aid and is also administered by the same person. (I have a few other lists using the Lyme Aid name including and Lyme Aid Singles.) This list was created on August 3, 2006. Lyme Aid Buhner is designed to allow individuals to communicate with each other. It is primarily a support group. It is user supported and user dominated. This means that I do not push topics or the direction of the list. The members will decide what to discuss and when. The members are responsible for moving discussions forward and for keeping the list " alive " . I see myself as an individual who will help with all the technical aspects of running the list, but I'm not going to actively participate in the discussions. I'm not shunning the list! I have simply chosen to dedicate much of my time to pursuits other than group discussions. Planet Thrive is a website with a much larger focus. I am not a member (the old subscription service was a definite turn off) so I can only offer my outside observations. Planet Thrive's mission ( http://www.planetthrive.com/cgi-bin/members/globaltemplate.cgi?id=8 ) is much larger than Lyme Aid Buhner's. LAB is about discussing the Buhner protocol and Lyme disease while Planet Thrive is about creating a much larger global group with a variety of goals. LAB is a simple list serve while Planet Thrive encourages communication through " health profiles, healing circles, email, calendars " and much more. Because there is such a difference between the two groups I see Planet Thrive as a resource for Lyme Aid Buhner. With the membership at Planet Thrive now being free it's a place each of can join and use to search for specific information or gather new information from Mr Buhner. In the same way we discuss Buhner's book here we can also discuss Buhner's column at Planet Thrive. And maybe Lyme Aid Buhner can be a resource for Planet Thrive if they have members who want to discuss Buhner's treatment ideas but not the other goals that Planet Thrive promotes. With such drastically different goals and web resources these two groups can work together to support each other. Which is exactly what I think we have been doing from the beginning. =) Robynn -owner
