Guest guest
1. East Hampton Star / 2. OMPC / 3. Boston Herald 1. In my follow-ups to the East Hampton Star article " Lyme: No Agreement " (http://www.easthamptonstar.com/20000106/news3.htm), I've attempted to give Ms. Rosenbaum more ammo about/against Dr. Dattwyler. Doing my own further research, I find that Art Doherty has already done his usual brilliant, exhaustive research on the subject. I should have gone there first. Thank you, Art. See: If Lyme is so easily cured, why did Dattwyler.... http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Oasis/6455/dattwyler.html I've sent Ms. Rosenbaum this URL, but I'd encourage everyone to continue to follow-up with your own input. E-mail letters@... Subject Attn: Rosenbaum 2. Only the sheer volume of mail/e-mail/faxes/phone-calls to Governor Patakai and other NY pols will get their attention. Although in Dr. Orens case it seems to be a done deal (short of a miracle), the ethics of OPMC and the way they conduct investigations (and why) must be called into doubt. On one hand they tell us that " differences of medical opinion " aren't sufficient cause to conduct an investigation, yet in their findings against Dr. Orens, " pure luck the patient didn't die " , " poor record keeping " , " lack of remorse " , etc are nothing but a difference of opinion. Does anyone know of a law that spells out exactly what is required to be maintained in a medical record? Or are we once again dealing with opinion about what constitutes " good " documentation? Cut and paste from Ellen's letter, or from other peoples letters. Even if you don't live in NY (I don't), remember, when in comes to legal action (which the OPMC hearing is), a precedent in another state CAN be cited. If they get away with blatent borrelia spin (BS) in NY or MI, it makes it easier in other states. You might not have caught it, but ELLEN'S DOCTOR IS ALSO CAUGHT UP IN THIS MESS. We are here to help each other, which helps us all. Get all your friends and family involved. Take the same letter (Ellen's is a good start), and write at the top " I concure with the contents of this letter because I too have been victimized by the actions cited " . 3. If anybody has been going back to Lasalandra's Boston Herald article about the Steere/NIH protest, you've probably noticed that the guestbook comments are starting to roll off. This is because he continues to write other articles, which generate further comments, so first-on, first-off. His guestbook is only allowed so much storage space. I've saved/transcribed the article and guestbook comments to http://www.angelfire.com/biz/romarkaraoke/Protest.html so that we don't lose them. My physician's comment (we presented him with a bound 100-page " information resource " ) was, " this, the patient experience, is what we need to prove that Lyme isn't easily cured, that LONG-TERM abx is needed. " In other words, all of our personal experiences, sufficiently documented, when collected, become more than anecdotal. He too was " investigated " : he cannot treat LD patients unless their is a confirmatory second opinion, and cannot prescribe for pain (only one clinic will take referals from him), and was reprimanded for record keeping. So, my medical record went from 4 inches thick before the hearing, to FIVE five-inch thick volumes!!! Then, the insurance company kept asking for " a copy of the medical record " which " policy requires the respondant to pay for. " Oh, well, that's another story. Unfortunately, this put me right at the maximum 5M of " free " web space that Angelfire allows. For future growth, I'm gonna have to find a way to fudge another site, unless somebody knows another " free " site that lets you have more than 5M and not too many pop-up or embedded ads. I might even end up deleting my old part-time job stuff, since it is now moribund. I don't want to, cuz I still have hope that I can become well again. (See: http://www.angelfire.com/biz/romarkaraoke ) IN CLOSING: Of course, if we become too much of a " pest " , all people have to do is put a block on our e-mail addresses (treating us like spam), so keep signing up for other " free " e-mail names to allow for this eventuality. I'm on a " feel good " trend right now, others may have to drop out for a while because of their condition. For each of us in the " feel good " mode, take up the banner (we know it will be temporary) and keep hammering away. Don't let the good work done by others before us fall by the wayside through lack of effort.
