Guest guest
After 9 busy days, I realize its time for an update because I'm doing so much better! After improving during the winter, I had experienced what seemed like a plateau that I could not figure out. Fortunately, after 2 and a half weeks on Vit D supplementation, I suddenly began to improve and have remained strong since. I will be testing this week, at one month of supplementation, to see if my levels are up, but I suspect that they are and that declining levels were responsible for my plateau. The main improvement is in stamina; I've been able to work outside for longer periods, have my grandchildren for longer periods, etc and not be totally knocked down. I'm tired for sure, but I rest and I come back much sooner. I just feel stronger. Brain function is so so. It has not improved significantly (yet!) though it has not declined. The one symptom that has not improved is sleep. Most of this year, that symptom has been worse, resembling what it was when I first got sick. Since I've used so many sleep aids throughout the years, some are no longer effective, or cause weight gain. I decided to go back on trazodone recently since it helped with sleep years ago. It did cause weight gain for me so I'll be watching for that; my plan is to use it for a while until enough healing has occured for my body to sleep on its own. Another major improvement is that the chronic cough that I have been treating with nebulized glutathione for 8 to 10 years, is gone!!! And, of course, I have had NO sinus infections for months, after spending the last 7 or 8 winters on and off antibiotics for such infections! Whatever 'bugs' were cause those two infections are gone! This in itself is pretty amazing. I stopped one of the 'core protocol' herbs recently because I developed a redenning and mild itching around my neck; I replaced it with another (with herbs there is always another herb if one is a problem). I also bought bulk herbs and I mix them with a little applesauce and eat 3 times a day; this is less expensive and I like getting as close to the source as possible. I exercise as I am able. Mild yoga stretches during the winter, and swimming too now that the pool is open. I also believe that one's psychological and spiritual health is part of the picture. I believe that physical health affects and is affected by them. So I continue with my therapy every other week (besides it feels good to have someone to supports me through thick and thin, who sees the real me, who validates me despite the limitations of illness!) and an energy psychology workshop (Be Set Free Fast) once a month. I'm also reading and experimenting with The Law of Attraction as written by Esther Hicks (as you may have seen in The Secret). Family and friends round out the picture. So, as of May, 07, things are looking up for me. I still have a long way to go, and there are still pieces to the puzzle yet to be addressed (heavy metals and detox seems likely the next step) but I am optimistic that I'll continue to make improvements. I am grateful to Buhner for his book; and to those of you with lyme who have been so generous with your knowledge and support along the way. May you all find the path that works for you Blessings to all, jjo
