Guest guest
Hi Marie, I just had to tell you my story because you sound so much like me and many of us. When I first received my diagnosis last November, I was on cloud nine because I thought, great there is something wrong with me, it isn't in my mind, etc. etc. And I thought, there is a treatment, I'm going to get better. I don't want to burst your bubble, having a diagnosis is the first step in curing you, but when I felt that " high " I came down hard! My family couldn't believe how excited I was, until I explained. But soon after, like two days into my antibiotic treatment, I felt so horrible. If you have gone undiagnosed for months or years like most of us, then the herx is going to be very bad. Please just be careful, and please reconsider starting your antibiotics until after the holidays, because it could incapacitate you. You think you know what its like to hurt and how horrible the fatigue is, until you get a herx, and its a big thing to deal with. If you don't have small children, or lots to do on Christmas, then I guess its no big deal, but if you have things to do, you'll really want to hold off. Of course, as you'll see us all mention here frequently, we all react differently to Lyme and all the different antibiotics. But sounds like you've had it for a while and that makes treatment more difficult. I wish you all the luck in the world, and hope I'm totally wrong, and you don't have horrible herx's. But I'd hate not to say something if I could help you enjoy the holidays. This disease keeps amazing me, every time I think I've felt as bad as I can, it always gets worse. And if you have a severe herx or reaction to the antibiotic over the holidays, you'll end up in the hospital. So please please be careful, and good luck to you. Take care Happy Holidays Vicki, Md >From: Marie Henson <henson2@...> > >Hi, Everyone, > >I've decided to start the tetracycline right away and not wait until after >the holidays, even if I do herx over Christmas. >
Guest guest
Great advice Vicki, I agree. I was off abx for over a month, recently resumed, and feeling awful, if not for the three brain lesions, and my fear they will increase off abx, I would definitely be off them till after the holidays. Guest guest
Marta I know, when I went of abx for three months, to prove to my LLMD it really was Lyme, and to try to get another positive test. I'll never do that again. It seems to be worse this time and taking longer for the abx's to kick in. But we are in a different boat then Marie, she hasn't started treatment yet. So I agree with you, we can't afford to go off of our abx's for the holidays. I was planning to for just a few days, but my cycles (herx) start every month on the 24th, without fail. Then my period on the 25th, so I definitely can't go off of them. Hope you feel okay to enjoy at least some of the holidays. But I agree with Stress can really set us back, so take it easy.
