Guest guest
Hi : It was probably the combinations of BOTH the abx and herbs together that gave you liver problems, probably because you did not take Red Root tincture and enough probiotics. IF on the herbs alone, you MAY do better. HOWEVER, a word of CAUTION is due here since you mention you are going to take Artemisia annua: I personally would hold off for awhile on taking the Artemisia annua until you are absolutely SURE that you are not going to be having any alergic reactions to any of the herbs you are now starting to take. IF you notice any problems with the herbs, then back off down to maybe just the Sarsaparilla for a few days, IF that is okay, and it should be, then add in Cat's Claw at one a day for a few days and see how it goes for you. Do the same with the other herbs, and if STILL OKAY, then maybe try the Artemisia annua. IF you were having trouble taking Artemisinin, then you will more than likely have trouble taking the Artemisia annua also. As a matter of fact I had more trouble with the whole herb on this one than I did the extract. So I would use extreme caution when taking it. And start out slow and build up also. I am speaking from personal experience here. I didn't have hardly any effects when I took Artemisinin, but could feel it much more when I took the whole herb. Then when I mixed in Coptis (only one pill, once a day, and Andrographis at one pill that day), I had a terrible reaction that took me about three weeks to get over. AND I don't think I have been the same as previous to that ever since. So please WATCH IT! Jim ### DeMarco <@...> wrote: Hi, Everyone, I tried Buhner's protocol along with antibiotics last year, and my liver wasn't able to handle it. So, I went with the antibiotics, since I was doing really well with them. Now I'm finally done with the abx and ready to start over with the herbs. My symptoms are very mild now - tinnitis and sweats, some fatigue... but I'm able to work part-time and get enjoyment out of my free time. I may even clean the house. (It *could* happen.) I haven't kept up here as well as I would have liked, and I know others have had great success kinda going by intuition, using ART testing, etc. For now, I'm starting with the CP at the starting doses - 1 each of Sarsaparilla, Andrographis, Resveratrol (Japanese Knotweed), and Cat's Claw, 3 times a day, planning to double it in about a week. I'm taking Milk Thistle too, same quantity. And I have Artemisia annua (whole herb) on its way. I can't do Artemisinin - anyone want my unfinished bottle? I'll mail it to you. I thought I'd start with the CP as written, increase as the book says, and see how it goes. Meanwhile, I've also been looking into the whole heavy metal thing, which causes symptoms very similar to Lyme. Since I do have a mouthful of amalgam fillings, and the remaining symptoms are very possibly mercury-related, I'm going to have my fillings yanked. Hopefully that will happen this spring/summer, and I can begin chelating by fall. I have great hopes for this, and I really think the mercury burden might be one reason I haven't been able to clear the Lyme. Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I will no doubt be looking for advice as I ramp back up. Take care, D. --------------------------------- Now that's room service! Welcome back! It's good news that you feel you've made a lot of progress and are ready to start the herbs again. I just wanted to say to take care to go to someone really skilled at removing amalgams, who follows the correct protocols and not to have too many done at once, leaving several weeks between each 'quadrant' of the mouth. I found it useful to chew charcoal 20 minutes before each time and my dentist had a doctor present to give me Vit C intravenously, which I'm sure helped a lot. Obviously there should also be a rubber dam and a long tube for breathing air from several feet away, also googles etc.I'm sure you will also read up on a good chelating protocol afterwards and I must stress that you should do everything you can afterwards to avoid getting bad candida, plenty of good probiotics, diet low in sugar and yeast etc. I'll stop there because I don't want this to sound like a lecture! Guest guest
Hi, Carolyn, and thank you for the advice. The dentist is very good. http://www.grotondentalwellness.com/amalgamremoval.htm I found her on a google search, then got lots of good feedback from people who have used her. So I think it will be OK. I have my first appointment in two weeks - can't wait to get this ball rolling. On the chelation, I'm still doing my homework. Are you familiar with Andy Cutler's protocol? It seems the safest, so far. I went to a ND who wanted to do the DMPS/DMSA IV urine challenge test, before amalgam removal, which the people on the chelation lists say is very dangerous. So... I'm still doing my homework and feeling pretty ignorant. They recommend strongly against chlorella, because it's a single thion and tends to redistribute mercury, rather than really chelating. But I know Selma has done well with it, so, I dunno. Don't worry about the low-sugar - I've been low-carbing for 7 years now. I come from a long line of diabetics, and I'm trying to avoid becoming one of them. I think this diet is one reason I was able to continue to function with Lyme for so long. I am terrible about remembering my probiotics though - I must do better. Feel free to lecture any time. Thanks again for the advice, D. Guest guest
Hi, , Yes, I know - Dr. Burrascano said he frequently had problems with elevated liver enzymes when people tried to do both antibiotics and Buhner's herbs at once. Cat's Claw, I believe, he felt was the most likely culprit. I'll be careful with the Artemisia annua. Buhner said that he believed it would be less likely to cause problems, compared to the artemisinin, but that he recommended artemisinin because so many Lymies have trouble following the directions to prepare the Artemisia annua. So far I've just taken a teeny bit of the ground herb off my fingertip, and so far, so good. I know what you mean by never being the same since over-doing an herb combination. I still have visual problems that started when I took artemisinin, along with the CP, antibiotics, milk thistle, hawthorn... I can't remember what all else. But the art pushed me quickly over the edge. I tried it again a few months later, all by itself, and was almost immediately treated to a light show. Never again. I appreciate the warnings. D. " R. Guest guest
Hi : I am not so sure it is Cat's Claw, but maybe. More likely to be the abx. I have had Sarsaparilla from the very beginning so have never had a liver problem. I started on the Red Root tincture quite early also. I bought a couple of bottles while MINE was " cooking " for a few weeks. Now I use the bottles to put mine is as they have the stoppers. Still work good after more than a year. I also went to probiotics right away when I went on abx, so that helped, though the abx killed my stomach, and had to quit. Probably a good thing I did as long term abx is no good for our systems anyway. I dropped my herbs down to two capsules, only two times a day this past weekend; and today I have had the first real brain fog in over a year. Also the pain in my tendons behind the left knee is back fairly strong. Also have been tired for a few days, course that could be because I am having trouble getting more than 4 hours sleep also. And my vision gets blurred again, mostly when I am tired though. Not bad right now. My neck is also sore today. I bought a large bottle of vodka today; debating whether to make a couple of tinctures with it or just drink it to feel better. ;o) I never did get up to Buhner's recommended 4 pills, 4 times a day of each herb, So I may have to do that also. And maybe somehow wean myself off sugar. Trouble is, My ostomy stoma has torn from my belly, and it looks like I can't put surgery off any longer, it got worse yesterday. One more tear and instead of my food coming out it will be the small intesting coming out. I think maybe the Artemisinin or the Artemisia annua could have also been MY problem when added to the Coptis last July. That was the worst I have ever felt on herbs and/or abx. It was really scarey, didn't know IF I was going to die or not. Not sure WHAT to do about it either. I am considering stopping herbs altogether for maybe a week, then start like day one again. Only I want to try the Stephania root as a tincture instead of capsules this time. Going to start the tincture later today. Here's hoping. I was feeling so good for so long too. Course having this bug for over seven years doesn't help either. I am sure it is very entrained into my system. I haven't gotten all my amalgams out yet either. Short on money after my big truck accident in Texas last fall. And now HIS insurance company is trying to get over $9,000.00 out of me too. Take care, Jim. ### DeMarco <@...> wrote: Hi, , Yes, I know - Dr. Burrascano said he frequently had problems with elevated liver enzymes when people tried to do both antibiotics and Buhner's herbs at once. Guest guest
Since recently being diagnosed via muscle testing with babesia, I've started taking allergy research groups artemisinin of my own accord. The only difference to be noted is lessened splitting actual headaches (my main problem is more a fogginess and feeling of suppressed consciousness). I actually had an elevated ALT liver enzyme before doing anything new, as of yet unexplained. Possibly from parasites irritating my liver. For now, I'll suffice to say that the problem cannot be properly explained in western terms, and chinese perspective grasps it better. I come to this conclusion since after 1 acupuncture session, liver pain I was having pretty much dissapeared, after she removed a bunch of heat caused by stagnant blood/energy. ALT went down before having acupuncture..which again reinforces parasites, as that was the only thing I was changing at the time (adding in some anti-parasite herbs). > Hi, , > > Yes, I know - Dr. Burrascano said he frequently had problems with > elevated liver enzymes when people tried to do both antibiotics and > Buhner's herbs at once. Guest guest
, I read that liver problems could be caused by fungal infections. I had liver pains/ problems since beginning of lyme. It never 'healed', I always depend on milk thistle to live symptom-free (on my liver). When I finally attacked fungal infections, my liver suffered more than usual. Much more, let's say. Even gall bladder. Now they're fine, but I guess you could think about a connection there too... Dr. K wrote about that connection (maybe because funghi live with heavy metals and heavy metals are liberated when you kill them, hurting your liver???). Have you read my post before (answers to everybody). I wanted to thank you for the beautiful video of nutrition! Guest guest
a, lyme alone can cause liver stress, specially when you kill borrelia. But when I kill funghi, the stress for me was even stronger. I had, for the first time in my life, the impression I couldn't digest anything oily anymore and got liver pains. This was in the worst days. I had to use the beetroot recipy, cut oils, add lemon, add more flaxseed oil etc to get it back in track. It took me some time to eat normal again (2 weeks, I think). My dose of milk thistle had to be increased to minimum 3x day, and it's still not enough. I needed 4x or so, and still not enough to detox liver (still with pain). I have to rub essential oils on liver/ kidney/ gall bladder to help on cleansing more often. It was after that I read dr. K saying if you have constant liver problems, you probably have fungal issues. Bingo, it coincided with my feeling. I've been attacking funghi since December 06 (or was it November?). My liver got stuck (even with all milk thitle, dandelion etc) sometime in January. I had to use homeopathy specifically for cleansing and had to stop funghi and borrelia killing for many days. In the worst days, my symptoms were: sweats, fever attacks, jitterness, fatigue, pathogens were growing even if I increased killers, plus the liver symptom. Now it's better. > > Selma, When you talk about liver pain and problems, what did you notice?
