Guest guest
Dear Friends: Okay, on this cold and wintery day, I had the second meeting of the Gettysburg group at my home. We have come to the conclusion that the only people who can help us are ourselves, and our lyme friends. That is why we are announcing that we are planning to hold a rally in Gettysburg, PA in the near future. Why Gettysburg? Two reasons: First, Gettysburg is a small town with a traffic circle in the middle. Any group the size of the NY demonstration would DWARF Gettysburg - In NY or DC we're only a tiny pesk. In Gettysburg, we're BIG!! Second, and most importantly, we would hurt the tourist industry. Thus, we would be pitting government/business interests against the insurance industry. Who's going to come join us??? We need national commitment and national attention. We're going to buy billboards and advertise this as the Second Battle of Gettysburg. Guest guest
Hi Lovette, That sounds great. I will try and get to everyprotest if I am not working. I can go in spring break, winter break and all summer. Keep it up, Hugs, Connie, MI
Guest guest
Hi Lovette, I'm in, I love Gettsyburg, think I told you before that the 4 or 5 times we visited there I always felt a sense of peace there....I know that sounds silly, since it is a battlefield and all, who knows, maybe I was buried there in a prior life (just kidding). Just let me know the date. Recently, I looked up hotels and motels that will allow pets as I was looking for a getaway place to go, and was surprised to see that most of the places to stay in Gettsyburg permit them....so I am definitely in now! Let me know if you need donations toward the advertising, I will gladly contribute. To those across the country who have never been to Gettsyburg, you don't know what you are missing, it is a beautiful area, and many of the best museums of civil war memorabilia are free or low cost. If you are coming, plan to stay long enough to enjoy the area. I agree that we need to keep the pressure up on for the NY doctors. Hopefully, they'll still be up and about at this time. I intend [and have already] asked some of our U.S. politicians to attend this rally. I also want to have a symposium afterwards. I have the permit and we're READY TO RUMBLE!!!!! If we can get the politicians there, [we've already invited Rick Santorum who is up for re-election to U.S. Senate, and he has a Lyme initiative Bill in the Senate], then he can get coverage for his bill. And, if he gets coverage for his bill, then we get national coverage for our rally....See how these pieces all fit together???<g> We're ready, we're psyched, and we're going to be heard!!! Price is for a 47 OR a 49 passenger bus with bathroom is 1,064$, roughly 22$ per person..if you have a full bus. 200$ deposit necessary, with the remainder paid in full two weeks prior to the date. So if anyone wanted to organize this, it takes a lot of advance work and people paying quickly. It would probably be cheaper for anyone car pooling to rent a minivan, and split the cost of the rental, gas, and tolls. Bernadette

Guest guest
jane.... what are the alternatives ? to just give up and let the bastards win......not me......100+ people in nyc.....we only had 30 or so the rally before....we must keep going ...eventually the media will get hold....with hard work from us all......politicians are finally taking notice due to the amount of mail they are recieving plus phone calls excetera.....we have only just begun....same thing with letters to the editor....everytime mine are published i get numerous calls from people about lyme...a chance to educate.......that must be our goal now ....education....as for the millions .....well i think we had a very good showing at nyc......considering that....most chronic lymies..... a. suffer from problems that make travel diffucult....i know i was shot after the rally and i only traveled an hour by train......gettysburg i am sure i will have to scrape together some $$$$ for a room to stay the nite..... B alot of us have suffered finacial hardships due to lyme......personally i lost my job....am totally disabled....and waited over 2 years for my ssd.....try keeping a family of 4 going on no $$$ for a couple of years......i am still trying to recover and every dollar counts but somethings are important to me so i scrimp to go to rallys ....alll are not that lucky.....i have a great family that believes my lyme fight is important and supports me in the fight.....like the aids groups we just need to be persistant ....eventually we will be reconized........on to gettysburg!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Ellen - welcome back!! The Second Battle of Gettysburg is steamrolling ahead, and boy are we going to have a blast!! Our tentative schedule for Saturday, April 8th is as follows: 1- 4 p.m. Rally in the Square of Gettysburg in front of the Gettysburg Hotel. 2p.m. the Media event will take place. As of this moment, and these things are continuing to build on each other, Pat of the LDANJ will speak, Dr. Orens will have an open mike to speak about whatever he wants - and he says he has A LOT TO SAY!!, U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, and Congressman Joe Pitts, as well as an increasing number of local politicians are going to be there. A glitch has developed on the Dateline front, but I've been told that they're still prepared to come to the rally. Who could possibly miss this rally?????!!!! Let's remember that the point of the rally is informational, to present Lyme Awareness, and to put a public face on Lyme disease. So, we're asking participants to make a 2 ft x 2 ft quilt square, with a 16 inch center piece, and a 4 inch border around the edges, and 2 ties in each corner of the piece. You can simply depict yourself and/or this disease in whatever way you choose - our entire group is doing them, and they are all quite unique!! Then, we are hoping to have the t-shirts ready next week for delivery either at the Rally, or beforehand. Cost is $5.00 for L or XL. Any other sizes would have to be specially ordered, so let us know and we'll get you a cost. Our support person dealing with the t-shirts is Donna White and can be ordered at :white@... - The t-shirts were designed by Marla, a graphic designer, and they will have " The Second Battle of Gettysburg " on the back, with a green " stop " sign over a tick, and the April 8th date. The front left chest area has the words: " T.O.F.U. Ticked Off and Fed Up " . I was actually thinking that we would probably end our rally a little early, say around 3 p.m. so that we could rest before the next event, but with the increasing number of participants at the rally, I'm not sure that will be possible!! So, bring a chair with you so you can sit - or, sit on the sidewalk - our Square is clean! 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m - Symposium at the Gettysburg Hospital Community Room. Speakers will be Dr. Harold , Dr. ph Burrascano, Jr. and Dr. Nick of Igenex Labs - WOW!!! What a spectacular panel!!! Is this going to be great or what??!?!? 5:30 - ??? CATERED FOOD, D.J., FUN, AND A HEATED SWIMMING POOL AT THE MOTT FARM, which is 4 miles West of Gettysburg on Rt. 30. All events are within driving distance, but not all are within the walking distance of a Lyme victim. However, Gettysburg is a tourist town, and very tourist friendly, so there are lots of things to do if you come in early. You could even sign up to take a Ghost Tour - there are a bunch of them now - on Friday evening, or a carriage ride.... Yes, Gettysburg is a little weird, but we're lots of fun too!! I'M SOOOOO EXCITED TO SEE HOW MANY OF YOU ARE COMING!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE GREEAAAATTTTT~~~) Lovette Mott
