Guest guest
Hi , Wow, sounds like some awful pain, Helen on this list liveitup@... is very familiar with the facial type pain you are describing, I hope she sees your post and responds with some suggestions. I can't believe the Lyme doctor will not give you pain meds. Get on the phone today, holiday or no, and tell one of your doctors how badly you are suffering. There is no reason for you to have to suffer like this, tell him you are feeling suicidal too, something to make them understand how serious this pain is. I wish I could email you some of my pain meds to help you, fortunately I made my doctor aware that I needed to function and he is willing to prescribe them for me. Are you able to sleep or is the pain too bad? Your mention of feeling suicidal reminds me that two years ago today, Memorial day, I was feeling just like you do now, maybe not so bad with the pain, but I was so depressed feeling like I had no life at all, my husband went off to a picnic without me, (I insisted) and I just felt like no one in the world understood me. I posted a long weepy letter to the Lyme newsgroup, and got back so many encouraging letters, I printed them out and put them in a booklet, I keep it near my bed in my headboard, I figured the next time I got so down, I would read them....you know, that time never came, but I am still holding on to it, just in case. You need to talk to your doctor also about depression meds. I have been taking Paxil for almost two years, and it has made a world of difference for me. Anyone who is chronically ill is bound to get depressed, add major pain, and you really have a problem. I was hesitant at first to take them, but my doctor explained to me, it was like the difference between a cloudy day and a sunny day, and he sure was right. Well, none of this drivel is helping your head pain, I hope someone responds with some good ideas for you today, but in the meantime, call the doctor and have him prescribe something immediately. {{{{{BIG SUPPORTIVE HUGS}}}}} Marta -- >From: BailieBoy@... > >Hi everyone, >I have pain on the right side of my neck -actually it is intense >pressure-that then goes up into my head and around my ear and jaw. Guest guest
Hi LIsa, As Dr. Lionetti said, much of our pain is neuropathic and can be helped with Neurontin. You might want to ask you doctor. Dr. L, says it is working well for his patients, they do get relief, Connie, MI
Guest guest
, I understand how bad the headaches can be, I laid in bed almost 3 weeks thinking that my head would just explode while all of the Dr's I saw said that there was nothing wrong. The Neuro I finally saw gave me Trazodone for the headaches, a drastic drug but it finally stopped them cold in their tracks. It took 4-5 days at some dosage I don't remember (pills looked like an aspirin, I took 1 per day prior to bed, they also helped w/ the insomnia I had at the time). This drug seemed like a miracle to me. The potential side effects are frightening at a higher dosage, and I'm not sure what they may be for a women. I don't know how to say it any other way but that for a minority of men it can be permanently damaging in the Bob Dole/ ED sort of way, 'nuff said there. This stuff really worked well, it allowed me to do something other than moan in bed, like worry that I had Mad Cow or something!!! Seriously, it relieved the unbearable pain of those headaches. It may have been purely coincidence, but I really doubt that. My Neuro knew what to prescribe immediately, so I believe it must be used for some similar things. I think it is related to Methadone, used to relieve pain of withdrawal symptoms. It worked... I know that you are in a great deal of pain, just know that we're all praying for you, and understand. Hope you can get some help, Jim

It has helped me so much. I just fought with the insurance company to get more visits and I won!!! I also wanted to say that it is HORRIBLE that your doctor isn't giving you anything for the pain. I would call and tell him you need something. Taken advil is like taken candy... It doesn't even touch the pain. I'm also on relefen... I LOVE THEM!!! I also take a mild antidepresent effor. I think it has helped greatly. My famliy also says that I'm handling everything very well for being soo sick.. I think the antidepresent has a lot to do with it. My doc said that it also helps with the pain. Feel better,

Dear : My neck is killing me also. There are two things that seem to work for me. First, Dr. B has prescribed physical therapy. They do electric stim, ultrasound and, the most wonderful of all, a massage!! That actually helps. If I go two days without it I'm back in pain again, but I do get some relief. The second thing that seemed to help is Magnesium infusion. I got a shot of it in the doctor's office and that seemed to help. I'm now supposed to take it with my IV, but I've had some difficulty with the IV port site, so I haven't done that. Good luck! The trigeminal nerve runs in the route you described your pain following -- it has 3 branches (trigeminal). Possibly you could be helped by Neurontin or some other med that other folks have found helpful with their nerve pain? This is also called tic doulereux -- you could look it up on the Web. It's also caused by shingles when the herpes virus inflames the nerve. Jean

Hang in Val. I felt horrible at first with mepron and zitro and then I improved. >> Thanks for the info.
