My mother was a nurse and my sister is a nurse and both always told me to let a fever rage because it would kill itself if it was viral. So I just bite the bullet and try to sleep through them. Since I am not prone to seizures or convulsions. Of course, Bb, babs & ehrlic are not viral but any fevers can kill the 'keets. That is why heat is such a good thing to kill 'keets. I've played around with raising my temp with hot baths and have managed to get it over 101. I would feel like crap afterwards and sleep for a few hours, but when i woke up I would feel really good. I would try to time the baths for about 2 hours after I took my meds, so they were in my system at full force. I got out of the habit, but I'd like to get back to it. I had some kind of nasty flu virus last year, when I was really sick with Lyme and had all kinds of symptoms. My fever soared to 103.6 and I just let it break naturally. My normal temp is about 96.5-97.2. If I get a 98f I feel feverish. I try to take hot showers. Sometimes it is hard because hot/cold sensitives change for me, but I have found if I start with Warm water and gradually increase temp of water, I can take a Really Hot shower. Of course, I have a stool in the tub if I need it. So when it hits 98.9 (like lately) it feels like it should be a lot higher. I wonder if there is some connection with people with below normal temps, maybe being more susceptible to Lyme, since it doesn't like heat. Just a thought. Guest guest Posted October 27, 1999 Report Share Posted October 27, 1999 Christie, First I was dx'd with Lyme, then after a few months of picking up every virus and strep, etc., I was dx'd with CFID and Fibromyalgia. Which my doctor says he is starting to see a lot of his Lyme patients fall in that direction. After about 10 mos, my white blood count finally came back normal, and I'm not as fatigued, he thinks my immune system is getting stronger and I may not be CFID anymore, but still dealing with Lyme, just not as many fevers or catching everything.But I think I already caught everything there was to get.
