There is no cure for it, and it is a progressive disease. In My Humble Opinion: It would be nice if all diseases could get the appropriate funding for research!!! Lets stop pitting one disease against another and fight to be heard! My 2 cents worth. Take Care, Jane
Guest guest
, I'd like to see a copy of your letter. By the way, did you actually see J. Fox, I thought he did well, he said something to the effect of not wanting to take away anything from any other medical cause, but that if they gave him what he asked for, they (Parkinson sufferers) would go away, he felt they were so close to a cure or something. Anyway, just goes to show, it takes a famous person to get their attention. I've always been baffled why we as a society put so much weight on a celebrity? We need more praise and funding for doctors and education. I do understand your frustration, but remember our disease is fairly new compared to Parkinson, and we just need to keep fighting and shouting and not give up. If we all pull together, we will get something done. I called the Senators offices again, and this time took Reid's lead and asked for a hearing like M.J. Fox got. They sounded as if they were humoring me when taking my message. But I plan to back it up with letters - LETS JUST BOMBARD them with letters and calls, eventually we'll get someone's attention. I have been writing letters and sending e-mail messages ever since May! I was very involved with helping to get CT's legislature to improve the Health Care Legislation, which was passed and goes into effect tomorrow on my B'day! I know we need funding for research and I will continue to write my congressmen and other political figures! That is what I was saying, instead of discussing being upset over other diseases getting more funding, we need to fight to improve the funding for Lyme Disease!! I have only been ill for 5 months, and I have been told by many that my case is one of the worse they have ever seen! I am doing all I can! I think we need to take all the negative energy and turn it so that it is positive and productive energy! Be well, Jane
