hi, Alan: can you tell me what is a Practitioner Advisor?

yes, i use ALL veggie caps--because i thought they were supposed to be

better! most? of the so-called professional brands, like pure

encapsulations, which i use, also use the veggie caps. i also have severe

problem with malabsorbtion. recently started taking betaine hcl to see if it

helps.

i'd sure like to confim the info below--any others sources to confirm??

found this, specifically about enzymes in veg caps:

" If the enzymes come in a veggie cap these may dissolve slower in the

stomach. It is recommended to take a whole capsule 30 minutes before a

meal/snack. Gelatin capsules dissolve within 2-4 minutes under stomach

conditions. "

http://owen.curezone.com/healing/autismenzymes.html

" Enzymes need to be in solution in the stomach at the same time as the food

to work properly. The reason for allowing the 30 minutes for the veggie

capsules is based on several parents getting “inconsistent” results with

enzymes. Enzymes are one of the few supplements where their exact mechanism

is known, so getting either positive or negative results was understandable

to this author, but not inconsistent ones. So I started doing a series of

tests in my kitchen dissolving several brands of supplements that came in

gelatin capsules, and several brands that came in veggie capsules, at

different pHs and different temperatures. The exact conditions and data are

available on the enzyme board or you can contact me directly for them. The

conclusion was that the veggie capsules might not be dissolving in time to

completely release the enzymes for maximum results. After the parents

getting inconsistent results changed their timing or started opening the

veggie capsules, all of these parents had consistent, positive results. "

sometimes seem to be so many factors, overwhelming. discover what i think

i'm doing (with much effort and attention) is " right, good, best " turns out

to be problem. so frustrating, feel like giving up, too tired and weak to

search more.

confused & curious (and frustrated right now too),

I just ran acros this and thought it was important. I have been using

veggie caps..... anyone else using veggiecaps?

1/14/2006 -- Are the capsules containig cat´s claw vegan?

Response From Raintree Nutrition:

No, we use standard gelatine capsules. Many of the veggie caps don't

break down in the stomach but pass into the bowel to digest. Cat's

claw is a good example of why we don't use veggie caps. This plant

needs sufficient stomach acid to break down the active alkaloid

chemicals that are bound to tannins. If the veggie cap doesn't

dissolve in the stomach, then you can't absorb the active alkaloid

chemicals and the benefits and effectiveness is reduced. If you still

don't want regular gelatin capsules, we sell cat's claw in a bulk

powder for $18 instead. It is the same powder we put into capsules.

THIS is an interesting thread. I personally switched from gelatin to veggie

capsules many months ago. I take mine at the end of the main course just before

the dessert. I also take them with my concoction of water, juice, C-Salts

effervescent Vitamin C, Red Root tincture AND Periwinkle tincture. I have found

that IF I get the capsules wet with anything wet, usually slop some of the

concoction, they start to disintregrate almost right away.

I just didn't like the idea of taking so much animal products with these

herbs, so that is why I switched. With all the food ahead of the capsules, I

should THINK they would have plenty of time to disintegrate before leaving the

stomach. Don't you?

Jnanda:

HOW MUCH does it cost you from them?

Here is a direct copy and paste that I just took from the WonderLabs website

where I buy my empty capsules:

2100 Empty Vegetable Capsules

" O " Size Clear

1000 Empty Vegetable Capsules

Empty Vegetable Capsules, Clear Retail price: 39.50

Discount: 60%

Our price: 15.80

1000 Empty Vegetable Capsules

[input] [input] [input] [input] [input] [input] [input] [input]

IF you use the " 00 " size they are $18 and change for each 1000. I just

bought 5,000 " 0 " size and 1,000 " 00 " size.

I get my veggie caps from www.mountainroseherbs.com. I was noticing on

the package of capsules today, that it says: " fast disolving and

easily digestible. " I have definitely found this to be true.

Okay. I looked up them at their website after I had written you, and saw the

same thing. I don't use too much " 00 " size anymore, but when I do, they are a

little less than $19 at WonderLabs. Also, FREE shipping at WonderLabs on orders

over $100. Do you know IF Your supplier gives free shipping on larger orders?

I couldn't find that when I looked.
