Guest guest
I am a 53 year old female just dx'ed with Hep C this year and having very bad constant pain in my liver. Does this mean I have liver cancer? Can you have pain without having liver cancer? I don't have an appt. with a Gastro until 9/14 and then will probably have to wait for a biopsy but I am so terrified that I feel as if I am going insane. I have a 17 year old daughter that needs me! Does anyone in this group have chronic liver pain and not have cancer? I am so scared! -Lynne
Guest guest
Medicaid is considered full coverage and there is no problem returning to private insurance. It's also possible that until you earn enough for the first month Medicaid will cover any co-pays as the secondary insurance. I am sorry to hear that your husband is losing his job, it is a terrible stressor. But, I would call Medicaid IMMEDIATELY and get the paperwork filled out ASAP as a precautionary measure. There are also state plans that use Medicaid Managed Care plans such as Family Health Plus in NYS that allow you to work and make money, but have low or no co-pays. There is also Child Health Plus where you can apply and regardless of your income you will qualify (and IVIG is a fully medication). The only difference is the amount of the monthly premium. I think the maxium amount in NYS is $150 per child at full premium and then $9 and then free. Child Health Plus also covers dental, eye and hearing. I would recommend looking into this program immediately (and if your state has it, you don't HAVE to put your child on your private insurance - you could just pay for couple rather than family to lower your co-pay and use the CHP as your child's insurance). It is cheaper at $150 a month for full coverage of all dental, medical, vision and hearing services. We LOVE this program and our youngest is currently on Child Health Plus. Guest guest
--- You could go and apply for Medicaid, and explain your situation. There may be an ins, a branch of medicaid, for chronically ill children. In MI, thats called Childrens Special Health care, and they can cover a child 100%, or it can work together with Medicaid to cover expenses. If you tell them he will be in danger w/o ins/treatment, they can try to put it thru as emergent. I would do this, and if/when you get other jobs and ins, you can often still retain either the medicaid or the extra state ins as secondary, to help with copays. This is what we do. You can also call and apply for SSI for him, give your current financial status, and then when one of you gets another job, just call and give that information. But with SSI will come full medicaid. Im so sorry.......I know this must be very scary. We were in a similar situation this week. Many were laid off " indefinitely " at my husbands work, and we didnt know what would happen with him. We finally found out Friday he was able to get bumped to another job, a lot h arder work and a little less pay, but we are so grateful he was able to keep a job, any job! I hope you guys can find something soon! valarie In , RCurk@... wrote: > > Medicaid is considered full coverage and there is no problem returning to > private insurance.
