Guest guest Posted April 11, 2004 Report Share Posted April 11, 2004 Sorry guys and gals, been a long week and just can't get motivated enough to type, but I am reading all, so remember I am peeking over all of your shoulders. Trip up to MA was painful, we put her into hospice and now we wait. She lost all of her swallowing so feeding is now a problem. Only soft foods which will some day slip into the lungs and she will developed pneumonia, she won't be in pain though which was important. Heck it is hard to get old and sure didn't want mom to live a life of being hooked up to artificial means. Needless to say I am depressed over this, but manage to take the train up their myself and back. Life can be so difficult sometimes. You may want to consider seeing Dr Lenke at Hospital in St Louis, which is associated with Washington University. I will be traveling from the DC area to see him myself. Judy Mom Hi All,I'm new here and trying to help my mother. She has Scoliosis, stenosis and osteoarthritis in her spine. She is going to see a scoliosis specialist in a few weeks here in Kansas City regarding possible surgery. From what I understand from the back doc, her whole spine is a mess, and he's not sure surgery will help. She also has a bum knee and needs a replacement.We live together as she just can't function some days. Sometimes she won't take her pain meds and I find this very frustrating. She always ends up in bed with worse pain, but continually fights taking the pain meds. Do you have any suggestions regarding this?Do you have any recommendations if the doc recommends rod surgery? I don't even know what to ask the doc at this point.
