Is mepron a caplet, capsule, tablet, what? I think Flagyl is bitter. I find

that coating it with a thin layer of butter or margarine keeps me from

tasting it when I take it. Hope this helps.

,

Mepron is gross!!!!! But it is one of the best treatments for babesia. What

I did is close my eyes (since its horrible to look at) and drink something

as soon as you swallow. It will get easier. Fell better on the yellow

liquid.

When I took it for 2 weeks it was an oral

suspension and flavored like for kids and was

a tad sweet. I was on Rocephin IM before

and after and th Rocephin seems to work

best for me. My Lyme doctor has shared

with me that a number of his patients have had

good results while on Mepron. I don't know

but imagine it could be IV too, but at the time I

was not ready for IV so got the oral stuff.

Now in the Rocephin IV and amazing how much

it " relaxes " my muscles. The other day when I

finished the IV my hubby escorted nurse to the

door and a few minutes later when he came back

to bedroom, I was fast asleep and managed to

sleep for about 4 hrs 10 min, kind of a record for

me these days!

Good, good, luck with your Mepron treatmnt!!!

Wishing us all health and freedom from pain,

both physical and emotional -

, I took mepron and zithromax for 21 days 3 times. It does tasted gross

but trust me you will get accustom to it. It did help me out, and I believe

that I need to be taking it again, for I can tell my babaesia is back. Let

me know if you need any advice or have any more questions.

...MEPRON might be the the absolute worst stuff I have ever taken. I

agree!

It looks like its radioactive. Is yours yellow-green? I have a hard time

keeping it down. I have to have a glass of soda or juice ready to

immediately wash it down with. Good luck.....I sympathize.

Mepron is a fluid, kind of like thick clumpy dense, florescent yellow-green

stuff. I can't even tell you what it reminds me of; (thank God there is

nothing else like it we have to consume! LOL) Also, yoou would not believe

the price!!$$$$ I got two bottles (cough syrup size) and they cost me

$1,365.00 That was just for me for one month. My son is also on it. Just

think.. I hope it works SOON>

Gail,

I also have co-infections Lyme, babesia, echriolis. Before I saw my current

doctor I also had constant headaches. The kind that were sooo bad I had to

be in a room with no light or sound and the headache made me nausea. When I

saw my new LLMD back in Nov they tried something. They said that they do

this for many Lyme patients and it helps. There tigger point injections in

your head. I know it sounds awfull, but they have been my saving grace. My

doc told me that they discovered them from a dentist who has a daughter very

sick with Lyme and had awful headaches. These shots gave her relief. They

work great!!!!! As soon as you get them you feel better instantly and as

time goes on it takes away your headache. At first I needed the tigger point

injections every week, now I can go 3 weeks without one. I know that this is

not curing my disease, but it gives me relief from pain. I think we all need

that!!!!! I hope you feel better.

Hi ,

I can;t remember the name for those shots , but Dr. C in Branson Missouri

uses them all over for the lymies with fibromyalgia. I think it is Rolo or

Polo or something like that therapy.

Thanks for the info, Cheryl! Wish it was better news, though. I am on

1200MG of Zithro daily.

<<<What this DOESN'T tell you is that Mepron IS available in pill form, although

it seems that no one's prescribing it.....or how DISGUSTING the liquid tastes!

It's like drinking paint......UGH Also, I got quotes from every

pharmacy in town for quotes and got the cheapest price for it of $567.99 (( &

Zithromax @ $ 834.69), at Target (your results may vary). in SW Florida

>>>

Hi ! I was prescribed the mepron in pill form, but I tried a couple of

different pharmacies and they all said it was discontinued in pill form. This

may be wrong, but if you are able to get it in pill I would question how long

the pharmacy has had it around and when it expires. The pharmacists said it

isn't absorbed too well in pill form, and I have since read that places as well.

The particles in the liquid form are reduced in size for enhanced absorption.

My pharmacist said it was " just over $500 " for a three week supply. That zithro

sounds very expensive...what is the dosage and supply?

I just found something at

http://cponline.gsm.com/scripts/fullmono/showmono.pl?mononum=160 & drugidx=1

Dated '96

" Atovaquone is administered orally. Since it is lipophilic and hydrophobic, oral

absorption is poor and highly variable; administration with a high-fat meal

increases bioavailability significantly. Atovaquone was originally approved as

oral tablets, however, these will be discontinued due to the release of an oral

suspension. The bioavailability of the tablets averages 23%, while

bioavailability for the suspension is roughly 47% (written communication -

Burroughs Wellcome 5/5/95). The tablets require 3 doses per day while the

suspension can be dosed twice daily. Atovaquone is >99% protein-bound. There is

no evidence of metabolism in humans. Enterohepatic recirculation occurs;

approximately 94% of a dose is excreted in the feces. The mean half-life has

been 45—77 hours in patients with AIDS. "

feeling better but for 3 mos I would get VIOLENT dizzy spells that would land

me in bed and would last all day into the night :*(

,

I was told by a friend back in Tennessee with Lyme to eat fatty foods. The fat

apparently coats the stomach.
