me.

I have never heard of it except with you two. Anyway, my apology. Hope you

have a great day.

No need to be embarrassed. " You guys " , when I was a teen-ager (I'm 57) was

not a gender-specific term, so it didn't occur to me that you thought I

literally was a guy. I've often found it useful, in business for people to

be a little uncertain about whether the name was a man's or a woman's. The

down side is that twice when travelling I've been assigned to share a room

with a man. I forget that there could be uncertainty -- I know who I am, and

I forget that everyone else in the whole world doesn't know, too. How's that

for egocentrism!

Back in the 1970's, because of a snowstorm, I arrived at a non-profit

conference at a remote lodge in the mountains long after midnight. A

flashlight and directions to my room had been left at the front desk.. A

note said the door was unlocked and to try not to disturb people, as the

group had to start work very early the next morning. I got to my room and

found there was only one bed, with someone already in it, which annoyed me a

bit because I hadn't slept with another female since I was a small child.

But, after all, it was a non-profit charitable organization. I slipped into

bed in the dark and slept well. I woke just as the sun was rising -- and saw

a bushy brown beard above the blankets on the other side of the bed. I

dressed and left the room quietly and quickly. I never did figure out who

I'd shared the bed with -- lots of men had beards in those days-- and I don't

think that person ever knew I'd been there. Asking " Can anyone tell me who I

slept with last night " would have reduced my credibility at the conference,

so I kept very quiet.

I've always liked the name Rosemary. I have lots of rosemary plants in my

garden. I hope your upcoming trip goes well.

Jerry,

Your poor daughter. Why did you name her that?

shireen...... the doctor had insisted she would be a boy.... absent an

ultrasound we took his word for it...my brother`s name is

Tim(othy)..... when she was born

we hadn`t given thought to girls names sooooo..... her middle name is

Jerilyn after me..... she`s called Timi, which is kind of cool.... we

used to call her TJ -- my mother and her sisters still do sometimes ....

I call her TimiLu-- which is another story altogether... I`m the same

age(57) as Harper and when I was young we also refered to boys and girls

alike as " you guys " .....

I wanted to give my daughter an unusual although traditional name, as our

last name is . I decided to name her for an elderly, highly

individualistic woman I knew, the only person I'd heard of with that name.

So, in 1968, I named my daugher -- . Poor kid. It seemed that

every other girl in Boston was named for the next few years. Making

bookends with all the little boys named . Fortunately, she was a oner

in every other way -- people never seemed to confuse her with all the other

s. Or at least so it seemed to me, her doting mother.

I have a daughter Noel. (Yes just like Christmas) She thought to be a

boy when people see her name. It's very popular to mix names up, I have

neices named , Sam, and my littlee ones name is a but I call

her or e.
