Guest guest
I had those problems with the plastic tape, but was able to tolerate the silk tape. It's more expensive, naturally, but if it is something you will be able to use, it's well worth it,,,and it sticks very well too. They tried the paper tape on me too, but it didn't stick long enough for me to be able to use it. Marci

But, it wasn't the tape. It was the iodine-based ointment that came with the dressing changes. So, I just cleansed the area with the alcohol pads and applied fresh gauze each time I redressed it. I quit using any sort of ointment. The rash cleared up just fine. I hope that will be your problem, too. Hope this helps.

I dont know if it is just so irritated right now that anything that touches those areas is going to react or what. At first I thought it was some type of reaction to either the Betadine or even just because I got so sweaty and the moisture got trapped. But it has spread to anywhere the tape touched so it must be it. Thanks for the idea. Guest guest
Good advice Sherri, I know I have read about them, but I can't recall what they are. I was going to try to do a deja search for her, but calling the pharmacist is the best idea, that or calling the Home Health agency who is administering the IV treatment. Guest guest
i have to say that my pharmacist SAVED MY LIFE! find a good one and pick their brain. the very first MD which i saw (an internal med.) when i had no clue as to what was going on, put me on 60mg(?) of prednisone. the pharmacist asked me if i had spoken at great length about the dosage and that it was extremely high and something he rarely filled. my MD told me none of this, i freaked out and called the MD and refused to take it. he stated that i needed to " treat my illness aggressively " and this was needed. i went to a new MD and still refuse steriods (luckily no one else as suggested them) as they really, really screwed up a friend of mine. >From: lc lott <lclott@...> > > > >--- sherri borgquist <srb13741@...> wrote: >> From: sherri borgquist <srb13741@...> >> >> call your pharmist in the morning.......MANY people >> are allergic to the >> tape but there are products out there......my >> lymebrain just cant recall >> them!.....sherri >> >> Sherri- >Thanks for the idea. Guest guest
, The verysame thing happened to me. Use neosporin cream and try to let the air get at for a while. When it starts to clear, keep it covered with gauze and use paper tape. I had the blisters too. Almost like a staff infection. The more you itch the more it will spread. Neosporin works great.....When you do recover it with gauze make sure you put neosporin on the gauze. At least until it all clears up.....It may happen to you a few times because of moisture but just repeat the Neosporin and gauze. The more air you can let get at it the better. If you are going to be home, take the patch off and let the air do its trick...Hope this helps... It took a whole 5 mins and was a waste of my time. The hospital said that the Ins. Co. is reviewing my appeal and they are allowed 60 days to do this. We said we wanted the hospital to pay until this was resolved per union contract and they pretty much said that they didnt have to so we will see what happens. I made my feelings known and left before I really lost my temper. Showed her my arm and she saw me stagger in and I asked her if she would want me doing her or a family members surgery like this and she just stared at me like i was insane. I looked for the Hy-Tape but coulnt find it. I did get some Tegaderm tho and so far it is fine. That may be the one I go with if it continues to work. The other thing im using is adaptic to keep the guaze from sticking to the open lesions until they heal when I have to cover them. I am leaving it open to the air as much as possible. Also I noticed that as weird as this sounds wiping the areas with alcohol helps although it burns at first. It seems to be drying it up quickly. I will be glad when it is all healed as it is really gross looking. Looks almost like I have chicken pox on that arm in a perfect square. Take care and thanks for the ideas. Guest guest
Hi , Sorry this was such a huge waste of time. It really angers me that you have to deal with such stupid people. I worked in a hospital too, but in the business office....I was there almost 15 years, but I was treated like a pariah for daring to be chronically ill. I guess " Management " is the same, no matter where you work. They are only interested in you when you can produce. Please keep us posted, and don't let the bastards get you down, it all has a way of working out, I promise you.
