Hi Diane,

I checked out the web site, it was mainly about the Lyme vaccine, I could

not find any misinformation. LymeRix or rather Kline Beecham has been

publishing this information everywhere. The last paragraph though, read:

" Patients who previously have been infected with Lyme disease can be safely

vaccinated to prevent a second infection if they remain at risk for disease

exposure. Prior infection does not confer long-term immunity to protect

against subsequent infection. "

Now this is the BIG QUESTION, no one knows for sure what will happen to

those who have previously been infected with Lyme disease who then take the

vaccine. Alison on our list took the Connaught vaccine during

their trials, she became gravely ill.

We all have to wait and see what happens when those who did not know they

had Lyme disease or knew and decided to try the vaccine anyway, are

vaccinated with SKB's vaccine. My guess is that they will then go to

doctors who will tell them they cannot possibly have Lyme disease as they

have been vaccinated. It may not just be a banner year for ticks, may be a

banner year for Malpractice lawyers too. Just my own opinion.

Yesterday, my husband who works for the Federal Government (Veteran's

Administration) attended a " Lunch & Learn " meeting held by SKB at the VA.

For over an hour a nurse/speaker told them about the LymeRix vaccine, and

encouraged all to be vaccinated. According to my husband, there was a large

attendance. Many who came knew several people who had Lyme disease. (

works in the Philadelphia office). The nurse said the vaccination is very

painful at injection and went on to describe the flu-like symptoms that may

occur. She also said that those who have had Lyme disease before may take

the vaccine, as long as they are symptom free. The point is SKB is really

spending megabucks to promote this vaccine, with print ads, TV commercials,

buying our governors etc. The only thing we can do is tell our friends and

family members to be wary, and to wait before they take the chance to be

vaccinated to see what happens. We just all have to sit back and wait and

hope for the best.

Thanks for telling us about the web site.

Marta

Hi, Marta....

I have been lurking for the last few weeks....deep, deep depression and

a whole lot of stress...but could not help but react to this post.

Dr. Sam Donta stated in a letter to attorney Ira Maurer on my behalf

that through the animal studies, it had been established that there was

a question as to the safety of the vaccine for those who have or had

Lyme Disease. He further points out the these concerns were expressed by

Dr. Steere on his " fact sheet " about Lyme Disease. At least in my

study, people who knew they had Lyme were

excluded. So...............when did all this change?

When I had my poor dog vaccinated the vet said the vaccine would lessen

the symptoms if she already had Lyme and prevent it if she didn't...but

when she lay dead on his examining room floor

he admitted that the vaccine company had reversed their original claim

and conceded it was dangerous to vaccinate an animal who hadn't been

screened for Lyme. This admission was 18 months ago, before LymeRix was

approved and released for general use.

Just for the record...I have been depressed but not inert. I wrote a

rather strong letter to the TODAY show after 's appearance and

challenged them to research my allegations and give them equal time on

the air. I received back the standard " we receive hundreds of letters

daily and can't guarantee you will receive a personal response " ...but

we'll see. In the meantime, it is essential to remember that I am not

an isolated case-several hundred people were damaged during the trials.

Several HUNDRED.

Hope you are doing well. If I can get this depression under control, I

hope to be back with you soon!

Hugs,

Alison

Hi Alison,

I was wondering where you were and how you were doing. I am glad you

posted and even gladder you are lurking when not up to writing. You make

several valid points about the vaccine safety. My vet refuses to vaccinate

the animals she treats now. She told me last year there were just too many

side effects. We all know that poor animals always get tested with these

vaccines first, either in the laboratory or in the vet's offices.

I am warning my friends and loved ones not to get the vaccine under any

circumstances until we see what it does to the people who have received it.

Let me know if there is some way I can cheer you up, hope you are not

feeling too much pain along with the depression.

Hugs,

Marta

who " had lymes " (again with the s's) and hated it.......i think and it is my

opinion if

A. u call it lymes u never had it

b those in the know would not take the vaccine after being infected

who knows maybe some are so stupid as to believe all the hype and not search

out the truth.......maybe they were cured in 28 days.....sure wish i

was.....the maybe i'd believe........the last two weeks have been the

Reid,

I don't think ANYONE was ever cured of Lyme in 28 days, I think what they

had went into remission, only to rear it's ugly head when:

1) They are stressed: i.e.. major life change, accident, death in family

etc.

2) They reach a certain age and their immune system does not work as well

3) Another illness occurs, weakening their immune system bringing out the

Lyme.

I agree with the Lyme's comment, those who say that definitely did not do

any reading or research about their tick bite. It is sad, but I guess not

everyone has the capability or the incentive to find out more about the

disease.

I know what you mean about feeling lousy. I do too. Not sure mine is

related to a weather change though. Who the hell can tell anymore!?? Ü

Hope you and I both feel terrific real soon,

Hugs,

Marta

Hi again, Marta...

Probabally the biggest part of the depression is the pain. I am actively

seeking to have a morpheine pump inserted, something i have been

resisting for 9 years but I am afraid I am losing the battle.

Also, I received the second denial from SSDI, real fast this time. It

basically said the same thing as the first with one added line-

we realize you can not care for your personal needs but this does not

mean you can't work.

Are they for real??????? I read it and re-read it to make sure my brain

wasn't playing tricks on me.

I also knew it was coming but I guess I am a real slow learner because I

still had faith in the system until it hit me right between the eyes.

Anyway.................

I'll be OK.

How are you doing?????

Ah, Connie...I forgot how to think happy thoughts!!!!! Everytime I try

to pull myself out of the doldrums, something comes along to put me back

in.

Just this week:

1. My car insurance got cancelled.

2. I have a deposition for the car accident we were in because we are

being sued for $1,000,000 for a great big NOTHING and I have to go to a

court in the WORST neighborhood you can imagine for it. I cried

" disabled " and claimed there was no place to park around there but was

told " too bad " .

3. MY deposition for the vaccine case was again put on hold because the

defendant, the great Wormser got a new lawyer. This should stall

things for another 5 years!!!!

4. SSDI again denied me in less than 2 weeks...do you THINK they read

the papers the lawyer put together for them???

5. Current shipped me 4 boxes of 200 checks each...only 3 made it to me.

They don't want to pay the " stop payment " on the 200 that got lost.

6. I mailed the wrong check to the wrong company. I assumed that I

mailed their check to the other company. That company says no but the

check came back in my bank statement....I have no idea who cashed it.

7. I have 2 " formal " occasions in the next 2 weeks and got REALLY heavy.

I ordered 6 dresses, hoping one would be OK. I received statements from

the company that 5 are on backorder until May.

The 6th is discontinued.

8. My dog is having a really bad relapse of her Lyme and tried to chew

her paw off to get to the pain. The vet wants to treat the paw with an

abx that is not good for Lyme and he won't discuss it with me.

9. My brother bought a house in Florida and is moving away, basically

leaving only my older brother who is WORTHLESS in NY.

I could go on, but I am sure you get the idea. I am in so over my head

that I don't know how to pull myself out anymore. I am in a LOT of pain

and my insurance won't pay for a shrink anymore. They claim I have no

hope of getting better so it is pointless. Yep. That's what they wrote.

the choice is go into the hospital and have 12 ECT treatments. But my

mind is bad enough. My shrink claims this will destroy whatever is left

of my memory. Aside from which, I don't want to spend a month as an

inpatient in a psycho ward and have shock treatments! I just want a

problem-free, pain-free few days to regroup!!!!!

Anyway!!!!! This is why I have been lurking instead of

writing....Honestly???? I care a lot about all of you and you all have

your own crap!

Alison

Wow Alison,

You sure win in the " Reasons to be depressed " contest, if we were holding

one. I can only say that you are in my prayers daily that you get through

all this stuff. What a mess with the checks. Can you change banks? I

would close out my account with that bank and let them worry about the 200

missing checks. I know you have a very well known lawyer handling your

Malpractice case, I would call him and ask him to send a letter to the bank

advising you are closing the account and will not be responsible for those

checks. On his letterhead it will look good. I have no suggestions about

the lawsuit...I wish I did, or the malpractice suit for that matter, these

things tend to drag on and on. As for the check that was cashed and you

don't know by who, there are identifying bank numbers stamped on the back,

your bank (try the new one) can help you trace that. I am so sorry to hear

about poor Tempe, I hope the vet will give her pain meds at least.

Can you get car insurance elsewhere? I know it is a pain, you are lucky you

do not live in NJ...Highest car insurance in the world! I know your parents

are in Florida too, maybe you can visit there more often and see your

brother too, good to get away from all these stress too.

As for the dresses and the weight problem. I sure can identify,

currently I am praying that no one I know dies, as I would have not a thing

to wear to their services.....as for other occasions, I just would not go, I

would die if anyone I haven't seen in awhile were to see me. Have you tried

ordering from the internet for a dress? Maybe online you can find out right

away whether a specific item will be available. I took a chance and ordered

something from Penney's over the net, and the computer checked to see if it

was in while I was online, and the item came in two days!!

I have been having recurring nightmares that my husband will leave me,

usually the dreams take place in our dating years. I wake up in a sweat and

go back to sleep to the same dream. is terrific to me, but I feel so

guilty that I look so bad, I guess it is preying on my subconscious mind. I

would not go for the shock treatments regardless, use this list for some

support, we don't have degrees, but we sure know where you are coming from

and will help as best we can.

Love,

Marta

Hi Reid: I agree with your attitude about " Lymes " It drives me crazy. Do

you kmow that my son was in ICU a few weeks ago after starting antibiotics

and I told the doctor that it may be a herx....AND NO ONE HAD ANY IDEA WHAT

THAT WAs?

I really think its awful the way the medical field is lacking behind on this

dibilitating disease. I recently learned that I had babaesia with it

(spelling?) and maybe thats why I have been on abx for 9 years... Maybe the

co-infections have something to do with it Have you been checked for any?

Wishes for better health....

I just read your letter. Oh my gosh I can imagine what you must be

feeling! I am first off sending you the biggest hug i know how to send.

And tho I know its easy for all of us to say this PLEASE try to hang in

there. Things will get better! I can understand your frustration with

SSI and ins. cos. Mine is messing with me too. Wont even approve

treatment to start the abx. Reason I got is because I " dont have Lyme " .

So I spent all last week totally stressed out and got myself so worked

up I was in bed almost constantly.

Decided that i am going to let my lawyer handle things. Thats what he

is there for. I cant let myself get that worked up. Please try to hang

in there. I will have you in my thoughts and prayers. Let me know how

things are going. You can email me if you need to talk. I check it 2 or

3 times a day.

Take care,

When I owned a gift shop I did the same thing. But I was able to track down

who cashed it. they were not happy with me, since they had to pay me back.

The bank is as fault for cashing it for someone whose name is not on it.

Hi Gail,

I have a lymie friend who didn't find out for 6 years that she also had

Babsiosis and Ehlerichia (sp). She just couldn't get better and no one knew

until the testing cam out for those two. She is still having a hard time,

but hanging in there. I personally feel, and have read that co-infections

make lyme worse.

Oh my God, that story got SO much worse today! It turns out AT & T did

cash their check...they transposed the amount and my BANK paid the

transposition!!! Thank God I have the check in MY possession! The other

company also got their payment and for some reason (just to complicate

my life) said they didn't but it was posted to my statement. Of course,

sicne I hurried to send them another payment, and didn't realize AT & T

transposed the check, I am now almost $500 into overdraq but the bank

president assured me she would hold all activity in my account until I

get there tomorrow with the check. I was like a raving lunatic on the

phone today! I am so insecure I automatically assumed the mistakes were

mine but none of them were. It was one huge comedy of errors! That's

what I get for trying to be dilligent!!!!!

Sweet dreams to you!

You're a truly good person, Connie.

Why is it that it seems like the caring, kind " people " people are the

ones who get the sickest????

We all know that there are also plenty of psychos out there who are

suffering...but it just seems to me that there is a very high percentage

of truly good people in a whole lot of trouble. Is something trying to

tell us something????????

Dear ,

Thank you for your sweet letter. I have to say I feel SO GUILTY for all

my moaning. There isn't one person on this list who isn't in exactly the

same boat as me...and I really am so much better off than you are! I

just came off 2 years of IV abx therapy and my ins company never said a

word about paying for it. I should be thanking my lucky stars for that

instead of complaining.

I guess that's why I resorted to lurking for the past few weeks...

Anyway, thank you!!!!!

I need to get a grip is what I need to do!

I hope that you will be able to get approval to start treatment very

soon!!!!!

I spent about an hour in the bank today. Luckily for us, we send them a

basket every Christmas because they are very good to us and because we

send the basket, they continue to be. The president deleted the numbers

of the 200 checks that are lost. As for the check that was cashed by God

knows who.........it was AT & T after all. They are really morons. Not

only did they vash it and not post it, they also transposed it and took

out $316 instead of $136! I couldn't figure out how the bank could pay

moe than what the check was written for but I learned today that they

don't look at the checks. They go by whhat the vendors say the check is

for. That's very unserling because I haven't done my bank statement

since I became ill! But they are going to take care of it.

Yje dress situation....still nothing. I have a dress that fits but shows

off all the lovely scars I incurred while having the port inserted and

too bad. that is going to have to do anyway! I gave myself an " I don't

give a damn " day and went to see some friends from work and just didn't

think about all the problems. I figured as lonfg as I had to leave the

house to go to the bank, I might as well take advantage of being out of

the house and if I hadn't gotten so hopelessly lost coming home, it

would have been a perfect day!

Now...why would your husband want to leave you? YOu are such a totally

amazing person! Do you think you would have married someone who was

shallow enough to leave you because you put on some weight when you have

SO MUCH going for you??????????????????????????

Think about that!!!!!

Love you,

Alison

I knw it wasn't going to be easy...I just didn't realize the system was

this corrupt!

Its a great big game!

Why bother with all the steps when everyone knows what the outcome is

going to be/ why not just go before the judge and be done with it?????

Why ask the question?????

All the bureaucracies are exactly the same and after working for one for

21 years, I should already KNOW the answers!

Sweet dreams!

i agree alison......it is a game......we should just be able to go before the

judge but i guess then a lot of people would be out of work........the whole

system sucks......when i first got sick and filed for ss.....we had nothing

coming in.....i applied for food stamps......first they said my 10 year old

pickup truck was worth to much.....then i was turned down because of a piece

of property we own.......to make matters worse they told me if i was a legal

immigrant.....i could get $2500 no questions asked.......bnut seeing as i was

born here and have paid into the system since the age of 13 i did not

qualify......?????????? something wrong with this picture??????oh well i too

worked for the government and should have expected it.....
